We had a staggering 75 entries in the competition all of which were an outstanding quality.

The National Monument against Violence and Aggression - Knife Angel

On Tuesday, a group of our Sixth Form students attended the closing ceremony of the Knife Angel Sculpture in Taunton Town Centre to show support for our community. This is a touching campaign, touring the country as part of a National Youth Anti-Violence Tour.

All students from Sky Academy in Taunton had the opportunity to visit the knife angel this week.

Students have come back with a reflective mindset and having open and honest conversations about the dangers of carrying and using knives.

The visits have been supported by workshops run by Escapeline, Stand Against Violence and Avon and Somerset Police

Some of the quotes from the students

'It's shocking the size of some of these knives, why would anyone carry them?'

'I wouldn't want to carry a knife like that, it looks dangerous'

'Seeing all the ribbons make me sad, it shows how many people have been hurt'

This week has allowed the students to reflect on the impact knives can have on communities and make them think about the consequences of carrying a knife.
