Planning Permission Granted in Spaxton!
We’re delighted to announce that we have successfully secured full planning permission for the transformation of this property near Spaxton — a carefully considered renovation and extension of a 1930s bungalow into a sustainable, fully accessible family home.
This has been a truly rewarding project to be part of, centred around creating a home that supports lifelong accessibility and independence for a young wheelchair user, while enhancing the character of the existing property and its rural setting.
The approved scheme includes:
-A high-quality rear extension, designed to sit comfortably alongside the existing bungalow
-A generous open-plan living space for inclusive family life
- Fully accessible design throughout, including level thresholds and specialist facilities
- Sustainable upgrades including air source heating and solar PV
- A sensitive loft conversion to support the family’s future needs
Over Stowey Parish Council commented... "The plans represent a significant improvement to the existing dwelling, both in
terms of design quality and overall functionality. The proposed changes appear well balanced and proportionate, enhancing the character of the property while remaining sensitive to the surrounding area. The inclusion of sustainable elements within the design, demonstrates a forward-thinking approach to energy efficiency and environmental responsibility, which should be encouraged in developments of this nature."
We’re proud to see this project move forward — delivering thoughtful, policy-compliant design that balances sustainability, accessibility, and architectural quality.
A huge thank you to our fantastic clients for trusting us with such an important brief, and to Somerset Council Area North for their positive engagement throughout the process.
On to the next stage…
