Great day. Great people. Awesome cause. Money well earned. Thanks to everyone that donated and supported me along the way. Bring on next year's walk!
Every step our Men’s Day Out walkers take helps make St Luke’s care possible - and fundraisers like Jason Ho**er are the reason we can continue being there for families when they need us most.
Jason has already raised over £1,000 ahead of the walk on Saturday, walking in memory of his dad, Kevin, and brother in law, Mike.
The self-employed property maintenance and painter and decorator from Tavistock will be taking part this year for the first time, alongside several teammates from his Walking Football team.
Jason is no stranger to supporting charities, having previously completed the Mighty Hike, several sky dives and most recently the Marsden Walk, so when his friend suggested he join him at our Men’s Day Out, he signed himself up straight away.
He will be walking the 12km route in memory of his brother-in-law Mike, who died from kidney cancer last year, “leaving a massive hole in everyone’s life who knew him”, and Jason’s father Kevin who was cared for by St Luke’s for six weeks back in 2010.
Jason is one of our top fundraisers so far for our Men’s Day Out, having so far raised £1,065. That is more than enough to provide a package of care at home for a patient and their family, enabling someone’s final weeks and days to be spent in comfort, surrounded by loved ones.
It is fundraisers like Jason who really make the difference to the patients who need our vital service at home and at our specialist unit at Turnchapel, 365 days a year. Like Jason, if you have already signed up now is the time to set up your JustGiving page and see how much you can raise. https://bit.ly/4ljklyr
Registration closes at 9am on Wednesday, so sign up now to avoid missing out.
