🐣 Nest Found? Here's What Happens

We're often asked whether tree and hedge work can still be carried out during nesting season.

The answer is yes — but with additional care and vigilance.

Our teams carry out wildlife checks before work starts and remain alert throughout the duration of the visit, looking for active nests and other protected wildlife in line with arboricultural best practice.

If an active nest is found, any work that could disturb it will be postponed until the birds have safely fledged. In some situations, it may still be possible to complete other parts of the job where there is no risk of disturbance.

So if you're considering tree work, hedge cutting or garden maintenance, it's still worth getting in touch.

✨ Garden Edging Upgrade ✨

A small change that can make a huge difference to the overall look of a garden.

For this project, we removed the old, rotting timber edging and replaced it with flexible corten steel edging, creating clean, crisp borders around the gravel areas.

We then topped up the gravel to leave everything looking fresh, tidy and well-defined.

🌿 Garden Shape-Up & Hedge Removal 🌿

A couple of tidy transformations from the team this week.

One job involved shaping up overgrown shrubs, cutting back the hedge from the driveway and grinding out the stump to leave the area clean, level and much easier to maintain.

The second job was a hedge removal, opening the garden back up and giving the space a much lighter, clearer feel.

Two different jobs, both with the same satisfying result — a neater, more usable outdoor space. 👏

🚨 Drake’s Trail Call-Out

On Friday our team headed to Drake's Trail at Bickleigh after a tree failure blocked part of the popular walking and cycling route. 🌳

The tree obstruction was cleared and removed making the area safe again.

From woodland trails and country lanes to gardens and public spaces, you never quite know where the next call-out will take you.

A satisfying job completed and another local route back open for walkers, cyclists and families to enjoy. 👏

🌳 Farewell to a Historic Oak in Dawlish 🌳

Our team recently attended an emergency call-out to inspect a significant oak tree standing beside the memorial outside St Gregory’s Church in Dawlish.

The tree was believed to have been planted following the passing of Sir Winston Churchill, giving it real historical importance within the local community. 🇬🇧

During inspection, it became clear the main stem had split almost entirely around the circumference, leaving the tree structurally unsafe and at serious risk of failure.

Following a careful assessment, the difficult decision was made to carry out an emergency dismantle to ensure the area remained safe for the public.

Working carefully and respectfully throughout, our team dismantled the oak section by section while preserving the surrounding memorial area.

The photos show the extent of the stem failure and the dismantling process carried out by the team.

🌲 Inside The Build: Bespoke Timber Office Project 👀

We recently shared this bespoke timber-built office. What many people didn't see was the months of planning, construction, transport logistics, and problem-solving that happened behind the scenes.

From being specially constructed in two separate halves in Devon, to its journey to the Midlands and final reassembly on site, this project challenged our team every step of the way.

The result is a smart, modern workspace with a natural timber finish that sits perfectly within its surroundings 🌲

A few more brilliant shots from recent tunnel inspection works where the Teign Trees team provided specialist access support for engineers underground 🚧

Using our CMC 22 Spider MEWP alongside powerful flood lighting, the team helped create safe access within the tunnel so detailed inspections could be carried out efficiently and safely.

These types of projects really show the versatility of both our equipment and team, from vegetation clearance and access prep through to supporting infrastructure inspections in challenging environments 👌

🌿 Specialist Access & Vegetation Clearance 🌿

The team recently carried out specialist vegetation clearance works ahead of a major tunnel inspection project 🚧🌳

Works included clearing dense vegetation around access routes and tunnel elevations, processing fallen trees, and preparing safe working areas for inspection teams and specialist access equipment.

Our CMC Spider MEWP always comes in handy when we need safe access to those awkward high-up areas 👌

On the ground, some arisings were chipped and retained on site for habitat creation, helping keep the area environmentally friendly 🌱
