I've started on a bathroom fit. Old bathroom was very very makeshift and hadn't been looked at for over 20 years. This is a complete re fit including new ceiling, floor, walls, shower, toilet and washbasin.

This week I've been busy renovating and decorating this large front downstairs room. It had been rewired so some of the coving was missing and needed to be repaired and new skirting was to be fitted. The plasterers had plastered to the old skirting so when removing it it damaged some of the plaster. After fitting the new skirting I've added some plaster to fill out the gap and on Tuesday I'll sand it flat and paint it. The ceiling and repaired coving have both been painted with plenty of white paint and the walls have now had 4 coats. Next week finish off including painting the skirting boards and architrave then this room will be finished.

So here are some photographs of the big house renovation that I've been doing Stafford since the beginning of January. What was initially a bathroom renovation turned into quite a lot more work utilizing just about everyone of my skills. What was originally a tired tiled bathroom with an electric shower that you needed to run around to get wet under, an old electric blow heater on the wall and an extractor fan that didn't extract anymore has now turned into a very modern and easy to clean bathroom. A complete new bathroom suite including a thermostatic surface mount mixer shower with a nice rainfall shower head and additional flexi with a smaller head. Completely redecorated the only thing I haven't done in this room is the new vinyl cushion floor. Following on from that I have decorated the hall stairs and landing with a new landing light fitting and all of the bannister and skirting etc has been painted. In the living room this has all been completely decorated including the repair of a hole in the ceiling where there was originally a leak under the bath. Both the living room and the hallway have both had brand new skirting boards I have wallpapered the feature wall of the living room as well as built and installed a new fireplace. The hallway has had the radiator replaced as the old one was rusting that has also been completely decorated with a new light fitting new laminate flooring new doorway from the hallway to the living room and I have secured to the wall a new shoe rack that the customer had bought from IKEA. I have also had time today to supply and fit a new kitchen tap as the old one was dripping so badly I estimate it was nearly a litre of water an hour. I would like to thank Emma for the work that she has provided me as well as her kindness in providing me with different lunch every day as well as supplying me with breakfast when she has not been at work. 🙏

The bathroom is starting to take shape now. The bath is mostly plumbed in the frame has been built around it to keep it nice and stable and it has been attached to the wall to keep it firm. The pipework is done and ready for the shower. The next job is to fit the plastic paneling around the bath and the two end walls. 👍

Today I'm starting another bathroom. Rip the old one out carefully, new wallboards instead of tiles, new bathroom suite, new shower, decorating and new floor.

And there we have it the first of many jobs done on this house renovation. The past week I have been preparing the walls in both the kitchen and the utility ready for painting. Where the walls haven't been replastered there was quite a lot of filling and sanding to be done and even where some of the replastering had been done there were still some travel marks which needed filling and sanding as well a thinned down coat of paint to the walls and ceiling initially just to see how things were looking before more coats were applied to get a nice smooth finish. In addition to the work that I have done as I mentioned I have capped off the the water to the toilet bidet and basin in the upstairs bathroom and I have also removed and capped off the radiator in the kitchen and then I have re-hung the radiator on a different wall in the kitchen ready to be piped up when ready. This involved a considerable amount of chiseling away at the concrete floor to get access to the pipes for preparation. The new kitchen will be fitted next week and while that is happening I will be painting the hall stairs and landing.

Another job done and to be fair I've really enjoyed this one. This was a customer who I did some decorating in their bungalow a while back they wanted the garage to have a partition in it the front part so that they could come and go with the dog without getting the house dirty and the back part as a space for DIY projects etc. A nice strong frame screwed to the wall floor and ceiling and then level timbers installed upright and horizontal giving a good strong frame for the door. The frame was then boarded over with all the screw heads and gaps at the side filled and then finally I hung the door put on the handles and the lock. All that remains now is for the client to finish and decorate as he wishes. I have to say I really do enjoy my job it's so nice being able to make a difference to people's homes. When they first moved into this bungalow they'd moved from a large house so obviously they were downsizing quite considerably it needed a lot doing however the difference before an after having been given the opportunity to work for them sort out the living room and finish it with decorating lighting new sockets and switches etc and tidying up the entrance hallway has made such a huge difference and they are finally happy in their beautiful bungalow. ❤️

Ok I'd like to share this with you. All men have mental health issues at some point in their lives and yet many won't or can't speak up and try and deal with it on their own. This has been set up recently an ex professional boxer in Telford Ryan Whitehead and it's already helping lots of men deal with mental issues in their lives. I'd like to try and support them and I hope that you can help. The group organise day trips doing things like paddle boarding, kayaking ,wild swimming etc and need equipment.. I will be setting up a donation page so if you can spare a few pounds to help this worthy cause it would make so much difference to many men out there who are suffering with mental health issues.

Another job finished today. Re decorating a hallway including skirting and inner door face of downstairs toilet, upstairs bathroom and front door canopy clean and re paint. I'd noticed that two of the light switches were sunk into the wall so I fixed that and while I was there I was able to tidy up an outside shed fascia and even fix the pump on a water feature. I'm always happy to try and do extra things if time permits 😁👍

Today I'm starting work on the upstairs bedroom of a bungalow. Floor being removed ready for new. Whole room decorated and new light fitting in the ceiling. Just look at that view out of the window 😍

The last couple of weeks I have been working on a large living room and hallway in a newly purchased bungalow for a lovely lady and gentleman over in Penkridge. The walls were quite bad in places so they have been filled and smoothed and sanded where required. The majority of the walls have had lining paper and then a wipeable and washable Dulux paint. The chimney breast wall has had a decorative wallpaper applied. All of the doors architrave and skirting boards have been sanded and painted and of course the ceilings and coving have been painted too. In addition I have put up new ceiling lights and wall lights in the living room and a new light shade in the hallway as well as replacing the light switches and the plug sockets. I have been able to advise on things such as a new lintel was required above the large lounge window and the electrics in the kitchen needed some attention. All in all it's been a great job to do and the clients are delighted with the finish so much so they presented me with a lovely bottle of prosecco as I was leaving 😁.

And there we have it a little boy's bedroom transformed from plain grey to a marvel Spider-Man color scheme. A new carpet will be going in next Wednesday along with various decorative items. Whilst I have been working there this week I found a 7 ft x 5 ft Spider-Man material wall covering which I bought for him as an addition to the Decor. Just a little token of my appreciation for all the work the clients have given me over the last couple of years and the kindness they have shown in donating things for Max.
