I've given this a lot of thought and after 12 wonderful years I have decided to hang up my apron and stop making novelty cakes.
I did this to earn a little extra pocket money to buy Christmas and birthday presents for my babies and their babies. Sadly as it is in this current climate I am losing more than I gain. If I ask for a price cheaper than other cake makers, people still dont want to pay. Unless you make cakes, no one knows the outlay and believe me, it's huge. Plus time spent ordering, shopping, looking on line trying to find exactly what the client requires...and the hours making a cake from beginning to end, sometimes well into the early hours.
I will still honour the cakes I have already booked in, especially the beautiful wedding cakes booked.
I feel really sad about this, I really enjoyed creating sometimes works of edible art, but when I'm spending more than I'm making, its time to move on.
Thank you to everyone over the years who booked cakes and believed in me. Its been an honour to help make your cake dreams come true.x
