Thetford Garden Centre was founded in the town centre in 1982 by Jean & Paul Nixon. With no previous experience in retail or horticulture they managed to build up a thriving business. Operating out of old vehicle servicing units, a large greenhouse was quickly added and the business began to establish it’s self in the town. The business soon out grew the make-shift premises and ten years later a m

ove to a purpose built store on the edge of Thetford was completed. Since then the business hasn’t stopped advancing with additions and improvements frequently being made. Now headed by Jean Nixon, and with twelve family members being involved in the centre at one time or another, – from work experience through to lifelong careers – Thetford Garden Centre remains a family business. We are hugely proud of this and how our loyal customers have allowed us to flourish when so many independent retailers have been harmed by the chains. In our fourth decade we still hold the same values, – to provide our customers with a vast range of high quality plants and goods, valuable advice and an enjoyable garden centre experience.

We’ve had a bit of fun with this one, a garden display inspired by the World Cup, bringing together plants from England, Scotland, Brazil, Japan and the United States.

You don’t need a stadium‑sized garden… you can recreate this at home and build your own little corner of the world.

If you’ve been thinking about adding some classic English roses to your garden, this is a lovely time to do it.

Top tip: Roses really thrive in a sunny spot with well‑drained soil, and they’ll reward you with more flowers if you keep them well‑fed and deadhead regularly.

Our Lime & Poppy Seed Loaf is light, zesty, and just the right amount of sweet. It’s one of those cakes that feels perfect with a cup of tea and a bit of a sit down, especially when you fancy something not too heavy.

A little behind the scenes (part 1)

We donated over 200 plants to to create a unique Sensory Garden for their visitors.

Adrian & Aaron spent the day with the Banham Zoo team- planting, digging, laying out plants and watching it all come together.
Every detail was considered from the soft sway of ornamental grasses to the soothing scent of lavender and the vibrant blooms of David Austin Roses.

This is just the start- wait until you see the transformation (part 2) 👀
