Time to wrap up any pots for Winter to help protect them from the frosts as freezing weather forecasted from tonight for a few nights! 🥶 This helps to protect both the pot from cracking and the plants roots! 🌱

Today is Winter Solstice ❄️ which marks the shortest day and longest night. It’s a symbolic and quiet turning point in the year for nature at rest 🐦‍⬛ trees are bare 🦔 animals shelter or hibernate, and seeds lie dormant beneath the soil, gathering strength for the future 🌱

It’s the perfect time to reflect and set intentions 🙏🏼 using this quiet time to rest, acknowledge the past and prepare for the future, just like the seeds waiting for spring. It’s a time of hope and finding peace in the beautiful winter landscape 🥾 often by walking or making quiet observations around us to feel grounded in nature's rhythm.

Winter Solstice a powerful reminder of life’s ebbs and flows, that stillness isn’t emptiness, it is an essential part of nature’s cycles to rest in preparation for future growth. From today onwards, daylight will return slowly with longer, brighter days ☀️

🩶 Darkness is temporary
🩵 Rest is essential
💛 Light always returns

Ancient folklore like the Oak King’s rebirth to modern Yule tide rituals, has honoured the balance between dark and light 🌎 and our relationship with the natural world. A celebration of endurance and hope.

This Winter Solstice, let’s honour the cycles of life, and notice and protect the nature around us, because when nature thrives, so do we ✨

Who Is the Green Santa?

Before the bright red suit became famous around the world, Santa Claus had another form — older, wilder, and deeply connected to nature. This was the Green Santa, a figure rooted in ancient winter traditions and the spirit of the earth.

In early European folklore, the Green Santa — often known as Father Christmas — was not just a giver of gifts. He was the embodiment of winter’s magic, the turning of the seasons, and the quiet promise of renewal.

Clothed in deep green robes, he symbolized:
• the life hidden beneath the snow
• the evergreen trees that survive the cold
• the return of sunlight after the longest night
• the sacred cycles of nature

Long before modern celebrations, people honored the winter solstice through Yule, lighting fires and decorating with holly and ivy. During this time, the Green Santa appeared as a guardian of warmth, joy, and rebirth — a gentle reminder that even in the darkest days, life continues.

It was only in the 20th century that the red-suited Santa became popular, replacing the older green-clad spirit. Yet the Green Santa still lives on in folklore, pagan traditions, and the heart of winter magic.

He is the spirit of nature, renewal, and ancient festive joy — the Santa of the forests, the evergreens, and the old ways.
