A little bit about me…I am a 45-year-old father of three and a grandad of one, I share responsibility of my two youngest children 50/50 and I work full time.
I’ve always enjoyed the practical, working with my hands side of life and have considered it a hobby mostly throughout my life.
Covid made me take a long hard look at what I wanted to achieve, so as soon as lockdown ended, I enrolled in electrical installation course at level 2 and completed the course with driven, likeminded people in 5 months.
I started my level 3 NVQ portfolio in September 2021 and after months of enquiring I secured work experience with a local electrician for a period of 6 months.
Having now completed the college side of my level 3 qualification I am now nearing the end of my NVQ portfolio and preparing to undertake the final challenge of the AM2 fully qualified electrician exams.
So, you are not fully qualified I hear you say?!
Correct, not just yet!
However, I have completed my BS7671:2018 wiring regulations exams, which means that all the work I undertake will comply with the part P building regulations.
Moreover, I hold the EAL 2625 level 3 electrical installation inspection, testing & reporting qualification, which allows me to, yep, I think you have guessed it…Inspect & test electrical installations!
Furthermore, I am fully insured to do the work that I undertake and hold a current, valid DBS.
Please be assured if I cannot legally do it, I won’t but I know an electrician who can!
