During half time myself and my children had a great day down in our woods planting nearly 100 trees! We planted five different types; English oak, Silver Birch, Wild cherry, Elder & Rowan.

During my 30 years on the farm we have taken fallen or dead trees every year for firewood. However I have cant ever remember planting any new trees to replace these. So it was a joy to be able to do this, as well as doing our small bit for the environment.

It was also a privilege to have my two children along side me, it was a great lesson for them and I’m sure they will love watching the young saplings grow into healthy trees!

In other exciting news I have also joined the seed to vase course run by the amazing Roz Chandler, this is a wonderful 8 months course learning everything there is to know about growing cut flowers, soil and propagation.
Next on my list is to attend a flower arranging course aswell, I have always loved cutting flowers from my own garden, but I definitely feel I would benefit a bit of extra knowledge in this department.
Keep following for lots of exciting updates on my learning journey! :)

January and the start of February have been a busy month with lots of preparation.
My polytunnel has arrived we are just waiting for the ground to be slightly less waterlogged so we can dig the site.
I have also been mad busy ordering all of my future delights, we have;
- 9 different varieties of dhalias with lots of different shades and colours.
- 17 varieties of bulbs and tubers.
- and a whopping 50 plus varieties of seeds!

Since the start of February I have been busy dividing my Dhalia tubes I brought with my from our previous house and I have also started potting up my tubers and bulbs and starting them off in my old glass greenhouse.

Next week I hope to fingers crossed get the poly tunnel up so I have the room to start planting all of the seeds.

Welcome to Newland Farm Nurseries, thank you for joining us as we begin our journey. We’ve recently moved back to our family farm and we will be putting our love and many years of knowledge to good use.
Our first commercial polytunnel is on order aswell as over 200 stock plants to get our journey started.
Our first year aim is to craft our skills to ensure we are offering the best quality plants possible. To do this we are starting our garden from a completely blank canvas and finessing our growing and propagating skills along the way.
Keep following this page for updates on our progress and any plants and cut flowers we may offer for sale this year.

Thank you and welcome from all of us at Newland Farm 😊
