I’m on the road touring Scotland filming Home of the Year so this makes me homesick. Missing Grampa (and Ro of course).

Things have been a little quiet at The Grand Island Hotel while I’ve been in Zambia working on the river lodge project - an even more wild, inconvenient build (I’ve found my niche). This place is at the end of the world - a nature reserve, no antique shops and some pretty wild neighbours

Scotland’s Home of the Year is back for a new series tomorrow night. While Ro was back at The Grand Island Hotel last year working I was on the rd, snooping through peoples homes to steal their ideas (and biscuits). It’s on 8.30pm tomorrow (Monday) on BBCOne Scotland and on BBC iPlayer for everyone else.

In love with our tiles. They are from Mandarin Stone. My design apprentice Ro made a great choice - it had to go with the copper, feel grand but grounded.

Grampa update. I’ve always known our boy was a star (Ro says I’m a stage mum) but I could not have anticipated how much he’d capture your hearts on our show. He had a tough year - not least coming third in the dog show So many of you are asking how he is. The great news is, Grampa is cancer free and living his best life right now napping, eating cheese and hanging out with his girlfriend Oonagh. Do I hear wedding bells at next season?
