A staircase offers a challenge and an opportunity, and with good design can become the centrepiece of your home, linking spaces with graceful design that elevates your journey. This example links three floors in a beautiful Coastal property including a new basement storey, and by bringing natural light down from above we were able to create a beautiful interplay of light and shade using the slatted ash balustrades.

Pleasing simplicity and gentle asymmetry make for some interesting views both in and out of this delightful home. Created for a young family in a tucked away corner of Devon, the build had to make very careful selection of materials for embodied energy, materiality / texture / aesthetics, and of course budget. The results were restrained elegant unique architecture, deeply rooted to place, a home for life.

Butterwalk in Totnes was such a pleasure to co-create with the owners. Taking a Grade II Listed Merchant House and making these lovely shared social, making and trading spaces felt very special. We love the challenge of working within historic buildings and the results through collaboration with caring owners and informed conservation officers at the planning department are always unique and interesting projects.

One of our new replacement dwellings in the South Hams of Devon which gained planning last year, now nearing completion near Salcombe. We found working through the very strict new carbon footprint policy a genuinely enlightening and exciting process which allowed us to drill down into material embodied carbon at a granular level prior to planning, ensuring this was an easy approval despite this highly restrictive and challenging policy.

Work now well underway at this historic property on the river Avon. A major refurbishment project with a large new wing as an extension linked delicately to the old with a glass link stair hall. Ambitious eco retrofit designs bring the old villa firmly into the modern world, highly insulated with MVHR and minimal heating requirements provided by a heat pump this beautiful historic home is getting the best treatment, and we can’t wait to see it come together over the next year. .leyco

We gained planning permission for this modern family home in Padstow, and the project is now nearing completion on site. The location, within the Conservation Area and next to two Listed Buildings, gave us some interesting challenges which resulted in a lovely design where the village lane appears unchanged but behind the reconstructed stone wall is a joyful sun drenched contemporary eco home. We love this type of project with the mix of reclaimed local materials and modern architecture.

Lovely to see this job in Cornwall coming together with such craftsmanship on the beautiful Cornish stone and slate. The Delabole slate is reclaimed and may have been on another building for perhaps 50 - 80 years already, but it’s such incredible quality that it should outlast all of us on this new house. The stone was all reclaimed from an old building on the site and was carefully taken down, sorted and reused without travelling more than 50m. Thanks to for all their hard work making this beautiful home come to life.
