Is that not a very beautiful chair? The Antilope Chair. This was my first chair that was inspired by the dynamics of a specific animal. The reality is that I was driving from Italy to Basel to visit friends and a saw one of those road warning signs depicting a leaping deer. I immediately had a two dimensional image in my head that at the first opportunity I put down on paper. I then had to discover how to turn it into 3D form and into a practical, ergonomic and structurally sound piece of furniture. This chair was the start of a whole new process. Dynamic form, structural integrity, ergonomic perfection and beauty. Personally I love the chair and think it’s pretty close to all the above.
