The brief was to inject life into the front garden and create a screen from the front garden to the back.
We used reclaimed York Stone sets from Watling Reclamation to form an edge to the drive and borders.
We then dug and imported 60 tonnes of topsoil to create the beds before planting trees, shrubs and perennials.
The row of Pleached Lime trees along the front wall was a lovely way to create a screen whilst still being able to underplant. Hedges are great at providing screening but do tend to kill off everything around them.
We used 3m high Laurels to form a beautiful hedge to define the front and back garden with a set of timber gates.
It all went really well and the customer was delighted.

This project has been 10 years in the making. We started by designing and installing the gates in 2012, along with lots of other improvements to the garden. The customer always wanted to inject some life into the front garden and at the end of last year agreed to carry out the work.
This has been an amazing project to complete. This is the first of two posts, before and after.

This couple in Towcester were left looking into their neighbours garden when the neighbour removed a section of hedge.
They both needed their privacy back so I suggested a Row of Pleached Photinia Red Robins. The customer returned at the end of the day to find the problem was gone.

I love planting Pleached hedging, its instant and there are many varieties available. The best way to describe it is a stilted hedge, typically the stem is clear for the first 1.8m and then the head is usually another 1.2m. So in all a 3m hedge or 10 feet in old money.

This was a lovely garden to create for a wonderful family. The customer had had a unpleasant experience with her previous landscaper and rightly was concerned about getting it right this time. We took our time to go thought the materials and making sure we got the layout right.
We used a lovely Porcelain paving called Dolomite Moon from supplied by our local builders merchants Huws Gray
Its a modest size garden, so we wanted to include a good entertaining area whilst maintaining a lawn space for the family and their little dog.
The before and after photos show a wonderful transformation with the customer adding their own planting scheme.
I really enjoyed this one, with some wonderful feedback from the family. I admit the grass needs a cut, but it has been raining allot lately!

This was one of our large winter projects, the customer wanted a storage shed in the top corner of the garden and a new seating area.
The solution was one of our 3m x 3m Heavy duty sheds, hidden very neatly by a 5m x 4m Hand cut Oak Gazebo.
It took the guys 5 weeks to build and was finished with a very clever Composite Slate Tile.
The Oak was supplied by Linnell Bros at Silverstone.
We are very lucky to have such great customers who give us the opportunity to tax our skills and work with some amazing materials.

The customer struggled with what to do with the dead hedge, it was providing good screening from the road but looked awful. After some time and discussions we decided to replace the hedge with Laurel and included two gates from Linnell Bros .

The results speak for themselves, a very happy customer.

I've been told many times I should post pictures of our work, mainly it must be said by my children.
So here we go, this is an Oak frame hand cut Gazebo we are currently building in Northampton. The guys have done an amazing Job, Owen and Ian laying the paving and Jason and John building this amazing structure.
There have been many head scratching moments but the results are showing and the customer is very happy.
The Ridges go on the roof tomorrow, assuming the weather allows!
