Thank you to all our colleagues who donated to Hughie’s fundraiser over 2.7k was raised 👏
WOW! A HUGE thank you to Emma and her godson, Hughie, for supporting the Hospice through a MEGA haircut on Tuesday! 😮✂️
They've raised an impressive £2.7K for the Hospice and donated their hair to the The Little Princess Trust 💜 💇♀️💇
Emma, from Hemel Hempstead, was supported by the Hospice after a diagnosis with aggressive Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC) in Dec 2015.
"I wasn't aware of the services provided by the Hospice until I was told by local friends I'd met through the Younger Breast Cancer Network (YBCN) online. My breast care nurse at St Albans Hospital also mentioned about the services available.
Meeting with Fay (Director of Care), initially at the Hospice in May 2016, was so helpful and made me realise that I needed some support. I had a couple of informal counselling sessions with her and then did the 'Managing Fatigue' Course.
I took part in complimentary therapy sessions offered, and had a lot of support from Victoria, (Hospice Occupational Therapist) who helped me after my double mastectomy with immediate TUG flap reconstruction in June 2016; providing me with equipment to use as my mobility was effected by the operation. She helped with my phased return to work in the September, as I was suffering with fatigue following a course of chemo. My last appointment with her was on 5th October 2016. I am honestly so grateful to her for her support!" 💜
Following Tuesday's hair cut appointment, Emma adds... "We are both so pleased with our new looks and we are so happy that we managed to donate a huge amount of hair between us. Hughie was brave and went first!
We never imagined we would raise such a fantastic amount for the amazing Hospice of St Francis and we are so grateful to everyone that sponsored us. The hospice is close to many people’s hearts locally and I’m hopeful that we have helped raise awareness about the other services that you offer, not just your fantastic end of life care."
A BIG thank you to Wates Family Enterprise Trust for match funding an award of £500.
