Project win…

Following a competitive process, we are pleased to announce that we have been selected as Architects and Landscape Architects to lead the design for Cornwall Wildlife Trust’s headquarters.

The synergy between landscape, architecture, people and the environment sits at the heart of what we do as a team. This project will create a series of highly sustainable, purpose-driven spaces that supports the Trust’s incredible work in protecting Cornwall's incredible wildlife and natural environment.

A huge thank you to Cornwall Wildlife Trust for entrusting us with this key project, and we look forward to sharing our progress in the months ahead!

Bath Studio

To mark our ongoing commitment to communities and clients in the South West, we are pleased to share that we have now opened a new design Studio in Bath.

Led by our new Director, Architect Matt Williams, the new studio will enable us to explore new collaborations within South Wales, Dorset, Somerset, BANES and Wiltshire.

Matt is joined by architectural assistants Aran Shuttlewood Joanna Vaughan - Aran has previously worked at FCBStudios, with Joanna joining us from YARD Architects.

To mark the start of a new chapter for LL, we are pleased to introduce – Matt Williams, Director

Architect Matt Williams joins us from RIBA Stirling Prize winning practice Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios, where he was an Associate. Over his career he has led a number of award-winning projects, with a strong focus on regeneration in the South West and South Wales.

Through his work he has developed a wealth of experience in understanding the character of place, delving beneath the skin and learning from the social, cultural, and historical characteristics that make places unique.

We are delighted to announce that Truro’s public toilets at The Green, Lemon Quay, are now officially open!

Lavigne Lonsdale were appointed by Truro City Council back in 2023, to undertake the refurbishment and reconfiguration of the public toilets. This included the provision of a new Changing Place facility – the first to be provided in the city centre! In addition to the new Changing Place, the existing toilets have been remodeled and fitted with new sanitaryware and accessories. There is also a new water bottle filling station for people to use and stay hydrated.

The exterior of the building has been adorned with a Cornish inspired mural, which brings an element of playfulness to the scheme.

The 26 metre mural that took 2 weeks to paint was designed and painted by the talented local artist, , featuring surfers, a Cornish Chough, lighthouses and many other things to keep an eye out for. The colours chosen, even match the colour of the tiles that cover the internal walls.

A year ago today on Sunday the 21st May, our MD Martyn Lonsdale had a call saying there had been a flood in our office in Truro. As you can see the damage was extensive and we lost all of our equipment – thank goodness for cloud based file storage! Our team are strong, resilient, and pulled together… within a day everyone was set up to work from home with a makeshift office set up in Martyn’s lounge (for anyone who didn’t want to work from home). Within a month we had a temporary office. We didn’t miss any deadlines, the team just carried on with the projects as though it was all just a normal week.

So many local businesses offered us space and support and we are extremely grateful for that so thank you! We came away from the experience with a wonderful sense of community.

A year later we are stronger than ever with new everything and huge admiration for our team who didn’t just rise to the occasion, they soared above it!

We are thrilled to welcome Ella to our team this week. Ella has joined our Truro practice as an Assistant Landscape Architect, she completed her BA (Hons) in Interior Design in 2017 at Falmouth University, and has now started her new career in Landscape Architecture. Ella has always had a particular interest in spatial design, the psychology of space and human reactions and interactions within built environments.
