Pleased to provide the Signage application, Planning drawings, Listed Building Consent, and Building Regulations, and all submissions for this project.
This was a particularly complex scheme, requiring careful coordination between planning requirements, listed building constraints, and Building Control considerations. A key challenge was creating a viable commercial layout within such a substantial property footprint, ensuring the space met the operational needs of the occupier without requiring the use of the entire building, while maintaining full compliance with fire safety and building regulations. The process was successfully and efficiently managed by RTP surveyors who coordinated everything on site and behind the scenes.
It is fantastic to see this prominent High Street building brought back into active use. Having stood vacant for a considerable period, its transformation from Topshop to White Stuff represents a positive investment in Truro's retail landscape and demonstrates how large commercial premises can be successfully adapted to meet modern business requirements.
NHB also successfully secured the necessary approvals for The Fragrance Shop, with a project update coming soon.
Anyone familiar with Truro's High Street will be aware of the ongoing challenges facing retail, with businesses regularly opening and closing. Large retail units, combined with significant operating costs and business rates, can make occupation financially challenging for businesses that simply do not require extensive floor areas. Projects such as this demonstrate how thoughtful design, planning, and regulatory compliance can help unlock the potential of these buildings and support the continued vitality of our town centres.
Kirstie Newton at Voice news paper, provided a very interesting read about the extensive history of this building. Dating back to the 1800's.
