April and still under COVID restrictions. Good news today is that we can go to pub for a pint or two in the garden. Nature steps in and its snowing - Nature is brilliant!
Ive added a past project in the snow from past years...a fun filled project to recreate a "wild west" atmosphere.

The Architectural Press - Eighteen years ago!
A block of flats aimed at youngster first time buyers/renters. A mixture of studio and one bedroom flats in a block situated on a steeply angled town centre plot. A highly insulated low-maintenance building. The balconies were supposed to have been finished in a maintenance-free galvanised silver-grey to match the roofing.
Planners insisted on high-maintenance PAINT - and in cream and brown [as the Great Western Railway...?]. At long last a recent repaint [unfortunately not galvanising] has corrected this.

Museum NOT for sale!!
MG Architects on the BBC!
"Bargin Hunt" visit the museum to learn about the East Grinstead Pottery. An interesting item. Sadly as the case generally these days, the pottery was finally demolished in the early 1970's. The presenter is Christina Trevanion.

The pottery in East Grinstead was established in 1855 by somebody called George Lynn and then the Foster family took it over in 1875. There is a flask in the V&A which is marked on the bottom 'TH23 1865, EG/HFFoster' - it is thought Foster was an employee of Lynn and took over the business.

Curator Dorothy Hatswell of East Grinstead Museum on the mystery benefactor who rescued the contents of a long forgotten pottery prior to its demolition:-

"We think Charles W Goolden started investigating the old derelict East Grinstead Pottery buildings in about 1970.

What he found inside was wonderful. It was like a time capsule – the pottery had been shut down very abruptly and inside there were still pots and tiles lying around everywhere and various things in cupboards like labels and books that nobody seemed to have taken any notice of for 20 or 30 years."

A quick post - I happened to be in East Grinstead when to my great surprise and pleasure I find one of my buildings has been redecorated AND into the proper designed colour. The change from my design preference was enforced upon by the planners...:-(
I will take more pictures on my next visit to the town and write a little piece about this unpleasant experience.

Sadly unconstructed as only a diploma project...but I remain fond of the concept. An Aviary Complex for London Zoo.
