A mid-build look at Woodlands House in Camden Park, Tunbridge Wells, with Rachel on site.

Construction is well underway, but a lot of the work right now is happening off the drawings — interior decisions, material choices, and thinking through how the spaces will actually be lived in once the house is finished.

The main kitchen, dining and living space will sit under taller ceilings than the rest of the house, with windows and doors designed to bring in as much natural light as possible.

Contemporary, Scandi-influenced, light wood and neutral tones a deliberate contrast with the more traditional character of the rooms surrounding it.

More to come as Woodlands House progresses 🏡

Behind the Royal Oak Hotel in Sevenoaks, two semi-detached cottages had degraded alongside the main building.

Cramped layouts. Not fit for purpose.

Two modern family homes now stand in their place designed by our architecture and interiors team together, not in sequence.

Shaker-style kitchens.

Classic brass ironmongery throughout.

Sleek contemporary bathrooms.

Layouts reworked to open the living spaces toward the gardens.

When architecture and interiors are designed as one conversation, the result reads as one home not a house with an interior fitted into it afterwards.

A before-and-after only shows you the two ends 💭

The Royal Oak in Sevenoaks: Grade II listed, late Georgian, derelict for years.

A local landmark with an uncertain future.

What you’re looking at across these slides is the same building nine apartments and a separate dwelling now, where there was decline before.

What it doesn’t show is the decisions in the middle:

which original features to restore and protect, where contemporary kitchens and services could fit into a Georgian shell, how to bring the layout into contemporary use without losing what made the building listed in the first place.

The grand entrance hall and staircase restored.

High ceilings and original mouldings carried through every floor.

The contemporary finishes sit alongside the heritage detail, not on top of it.
