We recently had to say goodbye to a large dead beech tree in uttoxeter 🌳

Unfortunately, the tree was suffering from Meripilus (Giant Polypore) – a fungal disease that attacks the root system and compromises the structural integrity of the tree. Over time, this decay had significantly weakened the base, making it unsafe to leave standing.

Due to its size and condition, we used the assistance of a tractor to safely guide it down in a controlled manner. Safety is always our top priority, especially when dealing with trees affected by root rot.

While it’s never nice to remove a mature beech, in cases like this it’s the responsible thing to do to prevent potential damage or injury.

🌪️ Storm-Damaged Willow Tree Cleared Safely 🌳

Following recent high winds, we were called out to clear a fallen willow tree that had failed due to severe base rot. Although the tree appeared stable from the outside, decay at the base had significantly weakened its structure, causing it to collapse during the storm.
