Managing compost bays involves a continuous, three-stage cycle: filling the first bay, turning partially decomposed material into the second, and storing matured compost in the third. A 3:1 ratio of "browns" (carbon) to "greens" (nitrogen) should be added to, then moved, and turned every few weeks to speed up decomposition, aiming for a damp, aerobic mix…..well easier said than done! What about w**ds? Not only in the area but also the bit around it. Luckily for us we have 6 bays and hopefully we can use the first one this Autumn! Today we sorted out out clients compost area and hopefully added more air to the mix making in aerobic. Use shredded wet cardboard for added brown (Carbon) ❤️

Just some of the gardens we have worked on last month! This time of year is one of the busiest in a race against time to get all things pruned and cutback before the big event. 🌱🌱🌱🌱

Well what can we say! The weather has been absolutely atrocious here in Cornwall and definitely has not been conducive to horticultural work. This week we have started in earnest in the back garden on a house in St Mawes, with a view to getting it back to a base level for additional plants. A lot of clearing and remedial pruning is needed before this is done. As always some before and after shots.

Yes we know we haven’t posted anything for a long time, but we have been busy ….promise. One of our clients has a border laid with pebbles underneath is a membrane. Years of detritus had built up allowing w**ds including wild garlic, wild strawberry and even large Himalayan honeysuckle to grow on TOP of the membrane. The only effective way to do the w**ding was to remove the pebbles, w**d and then remove the detritus! On our way we split and transplanted Agapanthus, Crocosmia and Sedums. It’s taken a few weeks and now we’ve reached the end we are working on the Cornish hedge, cleaning that up and disseminating the Ivy from the Ilex and working a way back down again….phew.

This post has a double edge sword. Since moving our business to Cornwall last year, we have steadily grown our portfolio of clients and as of today we are full to capacity and regrettably we cannot take on any new clients, although we do hope you will still follow us.

These photos serve as a reminder as to what can happen in 1 month to a garden that’s not tended. It took 7 person hours to knit it all back together again and there is still loads of w**ding left!

Our client asked us to design a cut flower bed……so we did! Working with existing curves to create a semi-circular bed that would be easily accessible from both sides for picking. Just got to add some topsoil and we a good to go.

Well, well guess what’s was behind this Lonicera nitida? The overgrown Lonicera was checked for possible nesting birds before it came down.
