I love it when a cunning plan works.

I decided not to cut back the verbena and fennel, leaving the seed heads for the birds.

This morning I was rewarded by watching the goldfinches descend on them with glee.

That feeling when you groan and mutter, what have I done!!

I ordered rather a lot of pansey, wallflower and polyantha plug plants from J.Parker’s. When they arrived, they come as tiny plugs and need to be planted on quickly, to ensure they do not dry out.

Ten plant pots later, I had finished. I can’t wait to see them all flowering.

Today was a real busmans holiday, when I went to RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

It was an excellent opportunity to visit the show gardens, be inspired by garden designers and pick the brains of experts at the specialists stands.

I love my Great Aunt Pegs quaking grass. It is such a beautiful delicate plant.

She gave some to my Mum, who passed some onto me.

When I moved to Wadhurst, I made sure I took some plants with me. I have now planted it on the edge of the lawn, where it can self seed to its hearts content.

I am so pleased with my beautiful wooden planter.

In the autumn I planted layers of tulips, daffodils bulbs and pansies.

The effect is none stop colour throughout the winter from the pansies and now a complete rainbow of flowers.

Roses 4, Sedge grass 0.

I love a good before and after photo.

Last week I carefully cleared out the sedge grass and couch grass from a flower bed, to reveal 4 rose bushes hidden in the flower bed.

I am now looking forward to seeing what they look like, when flowering.

I love to do fiddly weeding.

There is nothing quite like being on my hands and knees, carefully pulling out the herb robert, thistles, couch grass, willow herb and bitter cress, whilst making sure I don't pull out anything special.

I love how now the snow has gone, we are starting to see the first signs of spring.

I spotted these beautiful crocus and snowdrops growing near the church in Wadhurst.

I am feeling so pleased with myself. My daughter gave me me this beautiful bird table for my birthday.

However, first I had to follow the instructions, get out a screw driver and make it up.

Fortunately I had no misshaps, so was able to attach it to the garden fence with cable ties, allowing me to take it down easily in the summer.

This is our Greek Rescue dog Lou, admiring her reflection in Wadhurst Park today.

Wadhurst clay is infamous for being wet and sticky, putting all gardening on hold, during a warm(ish), wet January.

Today I took down some stock fencing.

My garden used to have "Double decker" five foot, stock fencing, to stop very energetic dogs leaping over.

As I am the owner of two pensioner dogs, this is not an issue!

So out with the bolt cutters and saw. Down came the fencing.
