My kids went back to school on Tuesday & I felt compelled to tidy up the mess that was their playroom (after laying out mute for the entire morning enjoying that sweet sweet peace & quiet).
I started by tipping out the contents of their toy storage, so I could upgrade it to less “kiddy” vibe & a more grown up look.
I had a day where their toys were ALL over the kitchen, only this way can I see exactly how much they have, and organise them into categories.
The process of organising is where the magik happens ✨ It’s messy and time consuming, and usually half way through I question why I even started BUT I know I’m going to FEEL better on the other side, I know the energy in the room is going to FEEL better & also decluttering our physical space helps declutter our headspace. We let go of the things we don’t use anymore, and they can go to someone else who will enjoy them. We create more space for things that we want around us, or simply more space to create with what we have.
I upgraded the toy storage for something that looks more “grown up” but holds their things inside in a clear, organised way. (For those interested it is from Ikea called IVAR). I love the rattan look against the dark green.
I wanted the room to feel more spacious, less cluttered, but ready to play with toys when they got them out. The large coffee table with shelf underneath is perfect for board games, Lego building, marble tracks & hot wheels. The shelf holds all the board games without them being the focus of the room.
I added new cushions from Jysk to the sofa, which as much as I would love to replace is pointless as it gets stained on the daily with fruit juice etc, and put a few new plants in the room for decoration & also that healing energy that plants bring.
When the boys came home from school they said they “loved it” which made my heart smile ✨🙌🏻
