Recently completed feature wall installation within a high-end kitchen project using XL format porcelain slabs.
For this installation, the client opted for brushed finish gold straight edge trim throughout to complement the kitchen hardware, cabinetry details, and overall interior palette. The metallic detailing helps frame the installation cleanly while adding contrast and definition to the space.
Working with XL format porcelain in sizes of 2800 x 1200 mm at just 6 mm thick requires careful planning, precise setting out and accurate finishing throughout — particularly around recessed details and external corners such as these. Careful slab positioning also allowed the design to flow continuously from floor to ceiling, helping create a cleaner and more cohesive overall finish.
While brushed gold metal trim was the preferred finish for this project, mitred edges can also be achieved for clients wanting a more seamless flowing appearance where the tile continues around corners without visible profiles.
Both approaches create a premium result when executed correctly. The final choice simply comes down to the desired aesthetic of the space.
Attention to detail is what transforms installations like this from functional to bespoke.
