Completed scheme at 179 Hamlet Court Road for

This project involved the conversion of the first, second and third floors from office use to a 13-room shared living scheme, together with a first-floor side extension, new balcony areas, privacy screening, cycle and bin storage, and associated alterations to the elevations.

Following planning permission, G2 Architecture supported the project from 3D laser scan through to construction-stage delivery. Our role included measured survey, minor alterations to help maximise space and value, discharge of planning conditions, detailed design, Principal Designer duties, and Building Control / Building Safety Act compliance.

The clients ambition was to create a standout shared living development in Southend, and the finished photos speak for themselves.

Planning approval secured for 3 new dwellings in Benington.

Our client approached us with an existing Class Q permission already in place, but with the limitations of Class Q and a fallback permission to consider, we saw an opportunity to create a better overall scheme.

Given the size of the houses, we felt it was important to separate the dwellings from one another to improve privacy, reduce openings along the boundaries, and create a more attractive and balanced form of development.

Accurate site information was key on this one. Our 3D point cloud scanner allowed us to capture the existing buildings precisely and develop the proposal from a reliable model of the site, helping ensure the new homes sat more appropriately in relation to what is already there.

A great result for our client and a scheme that works better both practically and visually.

This full remodel reimagines a modest 1930s house as a more elegant Georgian-inspired family home. The front elevation has been redesigned to introduce stronger symmetry, better proportions and a more formal entrance, with ashlar render adding depth and refinement. To the rear, a new two-storey extension, loft conversion and traditionally detailed dormer create brighter, more generous living spaces for modern family life. Large glazed openings strengthen the connection to the garden, balancing classical character with contemporary living.

Planning permission approved in Welwyn Garden City.

We’re pleased to have secured approval for the transformation of this existing commercial building for a company relocating to new premises. The scheme includes an enlarged office space, a striking new corner glazed façade, updated doors and windows, internal alterations, new parking arrangements, and associated external works to help modernise the building and support its next chapter.

A great result that will give the property a much stronger identity and create a brighter, more contemporary workspace for the incoming occupier.

Planning approved on our Little Hormead project.

Oakfield House is a carefully considered renovation and extension that blends traditional proportions with contemporary living. The front elevation presents a refined, symmetrical façade with classic detailing, while the rear opens up into a modern, light-filled space designed for family life and entertaining. Large glazed openings connect the interior to the landscaped garden, creating a seamless indoor-outdoor experience. The design balances elegance and practicality, transforming the existing property into a spacious, high-quality home that responds sensitively to its surroundings.

Another appeal success in East Herts.

Our clients wanted to replace an underused box bedroom with a new bathroom and an additional double bedroom through a first-floor front extension above the existing garage.

Although there were no directly matching examples on the neighbouring homes, our local knowledge and understanding of precedent in Hertford gave us confidence that there was a strong planning case.

The application was refused by East Herts District Council, but we took it to appeal and were pleased to see the appeal allowed.

The Planning Inspector agreed that the character of the group was already varied, and that the proposed extension was modest in scale and would not dominate the front elevation.

If you need expert advice on a planning appeal, our team would be happy to help.

Warm Church Project | Internal CGI

An internal CGI illustrating the proposed replacement windows as seen from within the church. The design follows the form and proportions of the existing windows, while providing improved thermal performance through a more efficient, modern specification.

The upgrades reduce heat loss through the building fabric and contribute to improved comfort and energy efficiency as part of the wider scheme.

Warm Church Project | St. Peter’s Church, Stevenage

We’re pleased to have received planning and Building Regulations approval for internal renovations at St. Peter’s Church in the Broadwater Conservation Area.

The church was previously losing significant heat through the building fabric. Through thermal upgrades, replacement windows and the installation of air-to-air heat pumps, the project improves comfort and energy efficiency. A new porch and redesigned entrance, including a Part M–compliant access ramp, also enhance accessibility and natural light.

A carefully considered upgrade that supports the long-term use of the building while respecting its setting.

Our client purchased a site with planning already in place. We refined the design to create a larger 2-bed new build with a more attractive frontage and successfully secured S73 approval from East Herts District Council - a great example of how revisiting approved schemes can unlock added value.
