My first shop front since leaving London. We had to find a colour match for a Farrow & Ball tint in order to finish this in an oil-based product, which was achieved with the help of Alice and Pippa at A Touch Of Tradition. I used Sandtex exterior specific charcoal grey undercoat and eggshell to finish. Silicone sealant used to fix the glazing had to be cut out as it was repelling the water-based finish previously used, then resealed with a suitable overpaintable alternative. Although having to look at wedding gowns every day was giving me recurring nightmares, this was a very pleasant project to work on, thanks to Clare and Lisa at Bride by Design.

More fascias and sofits. The older ones were starting to look it, a bit like myself. There was a touch of rot and some "ghosts" where the old guttering brackets had been. All dealt with and treated to 2 undercoats prior to finishing with 2 coats gloss - I used Sandtex exterior specific paints (oil-based of course) as I have a liking for these at the moment: good value for money, perform well and have a longevity. The formerly untreated woodwork, on the new extension, was treated with 2 coats of Polyvine Exterior oil, lovely finish and smells nice too. All materials used were supplied by A Touch Of Tradition.

I have been having fun this summer, playing dodge the rain. Managed to give this one a tickle when the weather gods were looking upon me with favour. Fascias,Sofits and window cills, stonework in Cornish Cream; all paints were exterior specific and by Sandtex.

A very pleasant attic-style bedroom with en-suite shower room. The original finish was on the rough end of reasonable in vinyl silk in a very washed out pink colour; staircases and window varnish finish, which required a heavy oil based primer in order for it not to leach through over time. Walls and ceiling were cut back to remove clumsy brush and roller work, prior to filling cracks and imperfections, but it still took three coats to get a good, solid-looking finish. Woodwork was primed, where necessary, with two undercoats and two finish coats. Exhaustive process, but it provides longevity. Overall, I was happy with the finished work and more importantly the client was delighted.

My remit was to sort out the windows and door, exterior rear elevation. These had not been touched for some decades and the state they were in was commensurate with the neglect. Fortunately, the materials used in the original construction were of good quality so the ravages of time and the elements were not as serious as they could have been. There was, however, some rot as would be expected. These matters were dealt with. All materials and paint used were exterior specific and supplied by A Touch Of Tradition. All finished in white gloss, the lintels British Racing Green.

This is the kitchen in the same property, still with the 1950's era enamel fitted kitchen, which these days has become desirable among those who desire the retro look. Unfortunately, the paintwork was a little retro as well, but after cutting back and some thorough prep it all looked fine once coated. Walls and ceiling in acrylic eggshell and woodwork gloss finish.

This is the lounge in a property, parts of which date back to circa 1840. There was a bit of a problem with damp caused by a bad section of thatch, but once this was sorted and the affected areas allowed to dry thoroughly we could revive it.

The lounge and kitchen/diner had recently had some work done, moving walls around a bit and installing a new kitchen. The walls were coated in a variety of brands with good use of a feature wall in each room. The doors were new white oak brought up with Treatex hard wax oil.
