A before and after of a driveway we have just completed for a friend in Appleton.
They wanted to get both cars off the road as there was an on-going risk that their car would get damaged.
They wanted something basic but functional. Concrete to match what was already there, some tidy, low maintenance borders and a shorter set of steps.
The dig out gave us some challenges. For anyone who lives on cobbs estate, let me assure you that there’s no risk of subsidence, your house is built on solid sandstone! It took a bit of effort to get down to the required depth but we got there. Just so happens that we found the gas pipe, mains electric cable and the internet cable in the process. All had to be lowered or moved to suit.
We have provided a parking space with slate borders and a rockery from materials found on the dig out! The steps were built from oak sleepers with Indian stone slabs.
All in all, a value for money and functional driveway.

This job kept us entertained for an hour or two. The customer asked for the old scruffy hedge to come out. Easier said than done when it turned out to be full of barbed wire, concrete posts and aluminium poles all hidden inside. Needless to say, the chainsaws took a beating. Stumps, all ground out and 27 bays of post and panel fencing installed. We also corrected the badly installed gate for them.
Feel free to contact us for a quote on all types of fencing and landscaping work as well as professional tree work and stump removal.

Great to catch up with friends from the industry this week at APF 2024. An absolutely brilliant event. Always good to check out all the fancy new kit that we will never afford 🤣.

The SAS boys have been busy over the last few weeks with dismantling trees. Some to be replaced with smaller more suitable trees for the location, others being removed due to storm damage.
One particular oak had suffered in the wind and had split open several large limbs but we were able to remove the damage and save the tree.
If you require any type of tree work this autumn please get in touch. From pruning, reducuctions, felling to stump grinding, we cover it all.

This time of year while nesting season is in full swing, we tend to do more landscaping and fencing work. Here are a couple of examples of our recent work. Firstly a complete re landscaping of a property in Runcorn where we installed the Indian stone patio for another landscaping company. Secondly an extended shed base and stepping stones fitted to a garden in Appleton.
Please feel free to get in touch for a quote on all aspects of tree work, landscaping and fencing.

For some reason our demand for fencing work seems to have picked up 🤔.
One of our jobs this morning was to replace these custom made panels for a customer in Stockton Heath. The old flimsy panels were replaced with much stronger tanalised feather edge panels. Another job done.
If you require any fencing repairs or replacement give us a call.

Our social media posts may have gone quiet the last few weeks but we certainly haven’t.
Our fantastic team have been working hard at St Anne’s & St Joseph’s RC Primary school in Accrington turning a wasted space in the middle of the school into an outdoor learning environment.
We have created three levels of seating enough for up to 48 children with two separate planted areas including a rockery.
This has been a real challenge. Mostly because of the weather making the steep slope very difficult to deal with but we got there in the end.
A huge Thankyou goes to Miss Robinson (Associate Deputy Head Teacher) for her imaginative skills in designing the plans for the project and giving us the opportunity to bring her idea to life. We really hope the school gets years of enjoyment out of this outdoor classroom.
Please feel free to contact us for a quote on all aspects of tree work and landscaping.
On to the next one!

Another Christmas party. It’s come around too soon. A great night in the blues kitchen. Unfortunately most of the team had other plans but the “Tree Musketeers” made up for it. Happy Christmas to all of our customers new and old.

Finally a day without rain! It gave us a chance to get this clump of trees out in Grappenhall. As much as I don’t like to remove large healthy trees, the roots on these trees had spread and badly lifted the driveway so down they came. This gives the customer chance to re-landscape the whole drive area and then plant something new once it’s all been completed.

Overhanging branches are always a cause for issues amongst neighbours.
We were called out at the weekend to a church who had asked us to cut the tree back from the neighbouring property as far as we could.
Unfortunately this leaves the tree unbalanced so we took some growth from the opposite side and by pruning the neighbour’s side back to growth points it will allow the tree to fill out nicely again over the next couple of years and still be far enough back from the boundary.

Tidying up a conifer hedge last week for a new customer in Appleton.
Now is the ideal time of year to crack on with hedges and tree pruning as they begin their dormant stage for the winter.

The effects of Ash die back are becoming more prominent as time moves on. This one had completely died off to crown level so we had the challenge of removing it over a large pond. These dying ash trees are only going to get harder to get down in the future with more dead wood reducing where we can actually anchor on to as climbing points. I can see us doing more of these with a cherry picker as access allows.
This job in Appleton kept us busy for a couple of days. Once the ash was down, we cracked on with some woodland thinning work and tidied up the willows near the pond.
A really enjoyable job.
