Something a little different today, a customer got in touch as we fitted their property 2.5 years ago with a product they bought from a major retailer. This one was puzzling but from closer inspection the spc had failed from water damage probably from heavy mopping and young children spilling drinks as this was a little dining area, the signs were cupped planks that chipped, you could also see staining on the tongue of some planks and on the floor where the joins of planks were, this confirmed our suspicions, some spc/lvt are water resistant not water proof, it’s always best to follow manufacturers guidelines on cleaning. Anyway we got this uplifted and replaced and now looks as good as new, with a little bit of advice on best practices for cleaning this floor should stay the way it was when first fitted, unfortunately an expensive lesson learned by the customer.

We’re back at it now the backs had time to rest! Customer got in touch and asked us to fit lvt to the hallway, with the old Marley tiles containing small amounts of asbestos removal wasn’t an option so encapsulating them was the better choice, the were well adhered so we give them a good grip prime and then a kelmore level more pro smoothing compound was used, once dry we used the stunning J2 iconic delamer plank to give this a look of real wood, and a nice Victorian style vinyl in the porch to finish it off.

What a transformation this project was, this tired old 18mm solid oak floor was indeed showing signs of age and water damage. This wasn’t easy to remove, once the wood was uplifted. The left over adhesive had to be removed too, using hand and mechanical scrapers, it was hard work but unfortunately absolutely necessary, once this was removed to an acceptable level, the floor was screeded to give a smooth blank canvas ready for the new floor. That new floor was the stunning new J2 iconic range, a herringbone plank that looks like real wood but with the added benefit of being waterproof and more structurally stable. This was finished with a single block border, and a walnut insert strip with mitred corners. Topped with a lovely big skirting board ready for painting. We even made this bespoke shelf out of scaffolding board, made to measure 😍. This was a big change and much more home friendly.

Something a little different today for Flooring Trade Warehouse. This decking was slippery when wet, as all wood decking is, this was covered in a safety material to give it a new look and much needed grip during all weathers. If you have a deck that needs attention, contact us for a quote 👍🏻
