🚨 Carbon Monoxide Spillage from a Seriously Dangerous Boiler Installation 🚨
🔍We attended a routine gas safety check this week and discovered a serious issue left behind by a previous installer. A new boiler had been fitted, but the old flue had been reused and not installed correctly.
⚠️This poor workmanship caused carbon monoxide to spill back into the property — putting the occupants at serious risk.
☠️Carbon monoxide (CO) is a silent killer. You can’t see it, smell it, or taste it. Exposure can cause headaches, dizziness, nausea, collapse, and in severe cases, death. Faulty flue installations are one of the most dangerous mistakes you can make with gas appliances.
🛠️We immediately isolated the appliance, removed the incorrectly fitted flue. Then installed the correct flue securely and supported and fully tested to ensure safe operation with no spillage.
✅This is why it is absolutely vital to use a trusted engineer registered with the Gas Safe Register for any gas work. Cutting corners, reusing incompatible parts can have life-threatening consequences.
🏠Gas safety is not an area to take risks. If you’re unsure about previous work carried out in your home, get it checked. Your safety and your family’s wellbeing depend on it.
