It was a pleasure to attend the Abbey New Homes Charity Golf Day 2023, on a blustery day, at Brookmans Park Golf Club.

The course was in great condition but the weather proved challenging, which obviously hampered the Matthew Homes team from getting anywhere near the prizes, however, the rain held off long enough to ensure we stayed dry. ✅

After the food, an auction and raffle helped raise money for The Willow Foundation which makes precious memories for seriously ill young adults raising an incredible £7,000.00 on the day! 👏

Thanks to Jaimie Wragg at Matthew Homes for setting up our team and Jordan Collison from Abbey New Homes for a brilliant day. ❤️

The Ashby Design Technical team enjoyed a recent visit to one of our current sites in Steeple Bumstead, Braintree, Essex by one of our closest and long-standing clients, . We were delighted to assist on this project by providing full technical drawing support. ✅

The development is in the lovely, private area of Steeple Bumstead - just 10 minutes away from Finchingfield - providing a rural and peaceful lifestyle surrounded by the delightful farmlands of Northwest Essex. ✅

The estate consists of 9 units including 8no. of 4 bedroom houses and a spacious bungalow with 3 bedrooms. Each plot comes with a secluded garden and garage with electric vehicle charging points. ✅

With the site approaching fast completion, there is no surprise that several of the plots are already reserved or sold. The Ashby teams are excited to see the end product. ❤️

The Ashby Design Technical team recently visited Paddock Wood, Tonbridge, to see the near complete “Burrows” development.

The development consists of 300 homes, offering 2, 3 and 4 bedroom homes, in which Ashby Design have assisted the client, Countryside Homes , since 2021 with full technical drawing support.

Countryside pride themselves on providing homes that are “Greener by Design”, and are on average 27% more energy efficient than the national average. This is achieved through A-rated boilers, low energy LED lighting, smart thermostats, and the installation of high efficiency ratings. ✅

We are pleased to have been a part of this incredibly important design and build process.

A recent Non-Material Amendment application has been approved for internal and external amendments of 4no. dwellings at a site in Ewhurst. ✅

The amendments follow ongoing technical review as the client prepares to start work on site in the coming months.

In true South African style, our client celebrated moving into his self-build home in August with a BBQ. 🥩 🍗 🌭

⚡️ We are pleased to see how great the house looks!

⚡️ The home is part of a wider self-build development in Surrey Heath, of which we helped to obtain Reserved Matters approval for the client’s plot in April 2022. We also assisted in producing the construction package drawings towards house completion in July 2023.

⚡️The four-bedroom house features a double height entrance atrium, large kitchen and dining area, study and a dressing room & ensuite to the master bedroom. The interior spaces have been designed with a strong influence from the client’s South African background, evident in the colour schemes used, but more specifically the indoor BBQ as part of the family room.

⚡️ The layout and configuration of the house responds to the compactness of the plot for efficient use of space whilst the large, glazed elements allow natural light to flow into the home and create framed views of the verdant setting.

We’ve been busy working with on this impressive residential block of flats, consisting of 36 plots of 1 & 2 bedrooms. ✅

⚡️ Situated in the centre of Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire, this is a change-of-use project with a 2-level extension above the existing 2-storey building, plus a new 4-storey extension at the rear.

⚡️ The residents of this development will enjoy both the city living experience and the tranquillity that Buckinghamshire has to offer.

⚡️ Internally, the flats are spacious with large windows allowing vast amounts of natural light to pour in. The aesthetics, seen in this marvellous CGI, provide a modern flare and pairs brickwork with contrasting cladding to the façade.

⚡️ The top two floors are benefitted with balconies, and on the ground floor, there are commercial units, parking, refuse and cycle storage facilities.

We enjoy the collaboration on this development and seeing it through to completion will be incredibly satisfying. ❤️

A warm September morning ☀️ was a perfect opportunity to take a look around one of the developments we have assisted in obtaining Planning Permission and produced technical working drawings for.

A culmination of 5 years working with the client and Huntingdonshire District Council. ✅

The How is a Grade II listed dwelling set within 17 acres of parkland with history dating back to the 10th century. The grounds overlook the Hemingford Meadows and Ouse Valley to the south, which are part of the wider St Ives and Hemingford Conservation Areas.

Planning permission was obtained in 2021 for 19 new dwellings, which create a healthy balance between sympathetic architecture to compliment the 19th century manor house and bold, contemporary forms for a striking development identity within the vernacular. This was all achieved with as minimal impact on what is a significant verdant landscape.

The client was insistent on a contemporary, clean, and fabric first approach, ensuring a comfortable, low-energy home for life. “Fabric first” uses cutting edge design, material technologies and specialist workmanship to minimise the need for heating and cooling, reducing heat loss and insulating beyond industry standards. The implementation of other energy efficient initiatives such a Solar PVs panels and Green Roofs, further accentuates the developments sustainable ambitions.

The development consists of 2, 3, 4 & 5 bedroom homes providing much needed market & affordable homes, all due for completion late 2023 to early 2024.

Ashby Design are actively involved in progressing future plans for the refurbishment of the Grade II listed Manor House, Lodge and outbuildings. Watch this space.

We are pleased to have worked on these two apartment blocks with a total of 13 flats complete with winter gardens and striking roof lines.

⚡️ The rooms are designed in accordance with local policy guidelines, creating spacious and liveable units.

⚡️ London Borough of Hounslow wished to enhance the development’s specifications to meet Zero Carbon standards utilizing methods such as solar panels and ASHP.

We are pleased to have been involved in helping our clients L&G Affordable Homes win planning for a development of 44 new affordable homes at Hart Road, Thundersley.

The development utilises an area of Green Belt land that is pending allocation for housing within the emerging Local Plan and proposes a 100% affordable mix of 2&3 bedroom modular homes. It will contribute to an urgent need for housing in the Castlepoint Borough, where 353 homes are required per year to satisfy demand.

The proposal proactively and positively responds to the landscape and ecological needs of the site while providing potential integration with future surrounding HO20 masterplan sites. Also the proposed modular construction of homes, with enhanced building fabric and implementation of sustainable energy sources and systems, provides an opportunity to achieve EPC-A rated homes with high quality and generous internal and external spaces for future occupiers.

Key Development Design Principles
An opportunity to provide a new residential community delivering 44 new homes, all of which would be designated as 100% affordable homes with appropriate tenure splits.

Provision of Two and Three Bedroom dwellings that meet identified need for family homes and contribute towards the Borough's affordable housing need of 353 homes per annum.

Our recent site visit to view the 108 units at Daventry Phase 1 with John Wain at Orbit Homes, to refine the fire strategy to one of the apartment blocks.

There is some incredible detailing in the varied material palate and some amazing retaining structures to overcome the natural topography of the site.

Looking forward to phase 2 and our continued working relationship with Orbit Homes.
