It’s been a while since I have posted as I was taking a break over winter, and with that break there came a lot of changes in my personal circumstances and big decisions to make. One of those decisions brought me to letting go of Mystic Jungle, as I will not have enough time to dedicate to my lovely plants and amazing customers.

Over the last two years I have built an amazing brand and a large following of local, national and international customers. My passion and personal growth story has been a foundation of my success and amazing sales, despite running the business part time, alongside my full time job.

I know I can no longer run Mystic Jungle, but I would hate to just shut the door and press the delete button on all my social media, website and sales pages. I would love someone to take over and carry on spreading the love for plants, nature and promote mental health benefits of plants. On the scale that suits you, your needs and lifestyle.

No doubt Spanish Moss looks Christmassy!!!
I’ve got those massive 1.5m long strands of Spanish Moss that I couldn’t even properly photograph without having to hang up near the ceiling 🥰🥰🥰 The last picture is even better as the 6 strands make the best curtains 😍😍😍

One strand is just £15 - but note the thickness is like on the last picture, the second pictures have two bundles of 3 strands that’s why they look so thick.

Spanish Moss is an airplane that takes the moisture from the air. Soak them in water every 2 weeks for about 30min and they’ll be satisfied.

Make sure you keep the soil wet all the time and find it a fly or two (not my thing if I’m honest but kids love it!)

Few months ago I got a tray of syngoniums that turned out to be infested with thrips. Off they went outside in a naughty corner of isolation, exposed to elements.
About a month ago I inspected them and it looked like the little nuisance pests moved out and the plants looked better than before. I moved them back in my to my ‘poorly plants room’ and watered when a saw the leaves drooping sadly.
Today they are back with the rest of the jungle, looking better than ever.

The moral of the story. Don’t give up on plants, they are survivors. Their mission is to grow and sometimes a bit a tough love is required to make them behave :)

When outside clod and gloom, inside jungle is warming me up.

It’s time to prepare your plants for winter!
You may start noticing changes in behaviour in your favourite plants, especially when it’s your first year with a sizeable jungle display. Most of your plants will need some rest now, so slow down with watering, and think twice about repotting and pruning. At the same time, with the use of radiators and heating, your humidity will drop significantly which isn’t good news for your tropical friends. If you notice yellow or drooping leaves, but your soul is still wet, stop adding water (otherwise you’ll kill the roots), increase humidity! It might be a good time to get yourself a humidifier (Xmas wish list?) or start placing trays of water near your plants.
Some plants like Alocasias, will naturally drop few leaves as will e going into dormancy. Don’t worry, it’s natural - they are not dying, new leaves will grow in spring.

For Mystic Jungle it’s a quiet one. I still got some lovely plants on offer, perfect for plant lovers Christmas gifts. The stock is limited whilst I’m hibernating with my plants during winter, waiting for spring and to come back to the markets.
I’m also plotting and planning big, so watch this space and keep growing with your plants.
