Spadework is a charity that was founded in 1984 that enables people to be more independent, feel less isolated and live happier, healthier and more fulfilling lives. Our aim is to support trainees to develop their personal skills through social interaction with the community and experience of working in a commercial environment as they help to run our plant nursery, garden centre, log deliveries, farm shop and café.

We're excited to be setting the foundations for our Charity PYO Pumpkin Patch, but we need your help! We're looking for donations of woodchip to help create the perfect base for our patch. If you're able to donate any woodchip, we'd greatly appreciate it!

There’s been lots of creativity in our Purple Room over the last few weeks!🎨 ✨

Our Trainees have been working on lots of different projects covering a whole range of themes, including pets, hobbies and holidays.

They’ve been getting creative making models of their own pets, crafting planes ready to jet off on holiday, and recreating some of their favourite holiday destinations! ✈️🐾🏖️

Each theme gives our Trainees the chance to explore their own interests and experiences, try different materials and techniques, and put their own personality into everything they create.

We’ve loved seeing all the different ideas come to life in the Purple Room!

JOIN OUR TEAM THIS AUTUMN!🎃✨

We’re getting ready for another busy season at Spadework, including the return of our Charity PYO Pumpkin Patch, and we’re looking for some brilliant people to join our team!

We’re recruiting Seasonal CIC Assistants on zero-hours contracts to help us during our busiest seasonal periods. We’re looking for people who are energetic, personable, adaptable and happy to get stuck in wherever needed.

So if you enjoy working with people, being part of a busy team and helping to create a great experience for our visitors, we’d love to hear from you!

Our Woodwork Trainees have been busy creating some very special new homes this week!🦔🏡

They’ve been working on a selection of bespoke hedgehog houses, carefully making each one from scratch and putting their woodworking skills to great use.

And we know they get the seal of approval from the hedgehogs too! Last week, one of our customers sent us some brilliant photos of a hedgehog making itself at home in the Spadework hedgehog house they had bought.

It was fantastic for our Trainees to see one of their handmade creations being put to good use, and hopefully there will be plenty more happy hedgehogs enjoying their new homes!

Our Charity Garden Centre has just welcomed its first delivery of beautiful Pansies and Violas, ready to bring a splash of colour to your garden as we head into the cooler months.
