How to put up a shelf
Total beginners edition.
Caption includes safety tips.

If I can do it, you can too, follow for more diy.

1. Check there are no wires or pipes behind the wall you wish to drill in to. Use a detector.
2. Check you have everything you need including the correct tools. E.g. drill with hammer setting, spirit level, pencil, masonry drill bits if you are fixing to stone or brick.
3. Check you have the correct fixings for your wall. E.g plaster boards plugs for plaster board wall.
4. Mine were caged shelves so the bracket needed fixing to the shelf first
5. Place at the desired height on your wall ( you may prefer to measure if it’s supposed to be in the middle). Use a spirit level to make sure it’s straight. Use the pencil to mark the drill holes on the wall.
6. Drill the holes
7. Tap in the plugs which should be flush with your wall
8. For this style the screws went in the plugs, then I hung the shelves, adjusting as needed.

Have you surprised yourself with something this year?
Tried a new hobby, learnt a new skill?
Made a wreath for the first time?
Me too.
The most fun I’ve had in ages, with the best girlies (the Prosecco had nothing to do with it).
Remember…. You don’t know if you don’t try

R E V E A L of the one room challenge.
The first room to have it’s makeover, and what a pleasure it’s been since the last time I attempted painting and DIY.

There’s been some struggles, the wardrobe is proving a little difficult but I have some furniture wedges and L brackets coming to sort it.
This room has gone from Drab to Pre teen Dream Den. I find myself sneaking in here now for a little chill.
Here are some Before & Afters. Wall 1. 3/4 panelling to paper
Wall2. Painted mountains, dreamcatcher
Wall 3. 1/2 n 1/2 paint
Wall 4. New coat and painted windowsill.
Upcycled drawers
Upcycled Wardrobe
Upcycled bed
Added trunking for tv wires
Changed curtains
Fresh coat on the skirts.

P - Preparation - get your measurements sorted.
A - Achievable - If I can do it, anyone can
N - Not easy to instal big lengths of MDF alone, but it is doable. You can use pin nails to help.
E - Exciting to anticipate to final look
L - Level- you will need a sprite level. My panels are straight, my walls are not.

Do you see what I did there 👆🏻

I have really enjoyed this project.
This is quite an easy option to give the room a different look.
Let the painting and room glow up commence.
Do you like Teal? What is your favourite colour for a bedroom ?
