This can be a very useful tool to help demonstrate design intent at a conceptual stage in the project. It can also assist in providing imagery to help "sell" your project to planning authorities where needed.

A hip to gable loft conversion is a good way to gain much needed extra space. This type of loft conversion is typically accompanied with a "box dormer" on the rear.

My client wanted something a bit more modern than your typical uPVC cladded or tiled dormer, whilst being mindful of cost. In this instance we have shown smooth cedral fibre cement cladding, oriented vertically. Choosing an anthracite colour will give the impression of zinc or metal cladding and giving a more modern appearance.

Whilst planning the dormer extension, we have to take into account head heights, structure, bathroom drainage and staircase compliance to ensure that the extension works at building regulations and detailed design stage.

We now await for feedback and decision from the local planning authorities!

MD Technical has been running for 18 months now, helping homeowners and businesses get their ideas from paper to completion. Matt is a qualified Architectural Technolgist who has previously worked in Architectural practices in the South West for 15+ years, mainly working within the residential sector, servicing housing developers.

MD Technical has been set up to assist homeowners in getting their home improvements built, through listening to their needs and creating designs that work for them. All bundled together in a friendly, professional and attentive service.
