Chelsea chop on early flowering perennials ✂️

Chopping back your early flowering perennials has some key benefits if you bottom them as this makes the plant work a lot harder than if you slowly reduce them down 🌱

Cutting them down like this brings on some nice clean foliage which looks abit nicer in the border rather than some scraggly foliage that’s dying back 🪾

This keeps the plants active during the growing seasons and allows them time to build stronger roots which makes for better growth next year 🪴

Allium tidy up 🧹

This time of year alliums are starting to show their best 🪻

As the flower really starts to pop up and out the foliage becomes abit tired. This is because the plant is now focused on its flower so it will be drawing any nutrients from roots and foilage 🌱

There is no harm in taking the tips off that have been exhausted already so taking it down to about a third of the foliage and help to tidy them up 🪴

Alliums look great with some low under planting of perennials as you just get this glorious white or purple ball appearing above 🪻
