We are now half way through the aquatic plant season. Due to demand this year we now have a reduce amount of plants available. So if you want plants then let us know soon😁

This season we will be open by appointment only. We won't be open on set days.

Due to the nature of growing aquatic plants this year they are being sold bare root but we can pot up anything you want.
So this means plants have to be pre-ordered prior to your visit.

If you have clay based ponds we can sell plants as they are.
Potted up plants come in aquatic pots and are pond ready.
1 litre marginals are £7.50, 3 litre marginals are £17.00 and 3 litre lilies are £26.00.

Have you got shelves in your pond ? Is it a lined pond or clay based and what depths of water do you have in your pond. Is it for fish or wildlife ? If you do email us then let us know as this will help us choose the best plants.

Due to changing circumstances we will be open only by appointment this season. Plants have to be pre-ordered by telephone or email. Appointments need to be made prior to visiting the nursery. So it's the 1st of September and officially we are now closed !
Where did the season go ?

But I am still taking orders for anyone who needs aquatic plants.
We are very low on some plants but we still have lilies and iris's.
Many plant are bare rooted so either they can be sold as such or we can pot them up for you.

If anyone wants plants then it's best to either email me with any details of what your looking for and any details about your pond,
or ring me to discuss.

I'll likely do this until I run out of plants and the weather gets cold.

1 litre Iris- Ann chowning, purple gamecock, iris ensata - £6.00 (all need re -potting - 2 litre size)

1x 5 litre lily Marliacea Carnea was £35.00 now only £26.00 !

8 bags of compost left £17.00 each

Our new neighbours are moving in. So there may be a lorry parked in their drive. Please drive around the side track. Don't go on the grass in the middle as there is a big hole !

So 4 weeks till we close. But this may be the last weekend we are open on set days. We are very low now on potted up plants.

This will be forming resting buds so really for next years plants. A bargain though.

End of July news

So it is creeping up to the end of the season with only 5 weeks left till we close. We are limited with what we have in stock. Some lines are now sold out. What we have left is available to look at on our availability list. Many are bare root so we need advanced notice before you visit. A bit of sunshine is always welcome but too much is not always beneficial to our ponds.

These are some top tips for ponds in a heat wave.

If your pond is in the ground it will obviously stay cooler for longer but small volumes of water heat up more quickly.
If your pond is predominantly in full sun, you can always create temporary shade during the hot weather with a gazebo, umbrella or even a sheet and a few poles. Any pond in a shady position will have less water evaporation.

You can also add surface plants to provide shade like lilies and rafting marginals. This will help the water keep cool.
Make sure all your plants are under the water to prevent wilting especially lilies and submerged marginals. Adding tap water isn’t the end of the world. If you are going to add cooler water, make sure you either treat for chlorine (fish keepers) or allow the water to sit for 24 hours for the chlorine to dissipate.

For fish add extra aeration as hot water cannot hold as much dissolved oxygen. Any fish gasping at the surface is a sign their not happy.
Adding a block of ice to a bag filled with pond water will slowly melt in the bag the water in the bag will help any big temperature differences. Plus, a bit of enrichment for the fish!
