The Alliums have finished flowering, but don't chop them down! They are still a wonderful addition to your border and add height and colour.

They are great cuttings for a vase, you could wait until they are dried out enough and cut them at the base and spray with them gold or silver paint for a table decoration - but not just yet!

These beautiful, striking plants are so versatile and are attractive to beneficial insects and all pollinators, they are a “heaven sent Lollipop” for shape, structure and form throughout the year.

Sambucus Nigra 🌿🪴🤍

We have three beautiful varieties growing in the pasture:

Sambucus Nigra Laciniata - This is a rare Elder, it is now very difficult to source, I love this gorgeous Elder, they have such delicate wonderful lacy green foliage but are so hardy and reliable. We sold our first entire crop to an Elder Flower Champagne producer!

Sambucus Nigra Varigatum - This variety is the most stable and less likely to “revert” back and produce non variegated leaves. It is completely hardy, easy to prune back and happy anywhere as its essentially an ELDER.

Sambucus Nigra Thundercloud - Thundercloud is the very best of a dark or black leaved Elder, and provides great foliage plant for background interest or for breaking up other planting.

We have some available in the nursery so that you can add them to your own gardens, pop down to have a look!

The lack of pollinators in the pasture the UK has not gone unnoticed.... it is a ecological crisis, but what can we do?

We have to keep moving forward and providing the pollinators that have emerged this year food and drink, please make sure you have nectar rich plants in your gardens for them, as long as you have flower and blossom, you are doing your bit!

We have to be even more conscious of this fact and make sure we are gardening wisely and gardening FOR pollinators!

Geum & Viburnum a beautiful combination in Mandys Woodland Garden 🤍❤️🌿

I just love how the Geum stands up proud in the border and her pop of vibrant red stands out against the perfect white Viburnum 😍

Geum has been grown in the UK since 1826 so pretty trustworthy, a wonderful plant we should all consider for our gardens!

Geranium Phaem 🖤🌿

I have grown this beautiful hardy geranium for over 20 years here. Commonly called dusky crane’s-bill, mourning widow or black widow, it was part of Victorian “Mourning Gardens” which were very popular at the time.

She flowers from late spring into early summer and repeats quite well if chopped down giving a second flush.

Something different for your gardens!

Foxgloves in Mandys Woodland Garden 🎋🪻🌸🐝

A wonderful, traditional cottage garden plant which is ideal for the back of the border or semi shaded/woodland area. Foxgloves will always self-seed if you are not too tidy and don’t cut off the old flower stalks too quickly.

We have a variety of Foxglove seeds available to purchase and a few remaining Strawberry Foxglove & Digitalis Purpurea to purchase from the nursery!

Geum - Lady Stratheden & Mrs Bradshaw in stock, flowering and looking FABULOUS! 🌱🌼🌺

This is a traditional perennial which lasts and never lets you down. The abundance of flowers may start as early as May. She is a very tough lady, and if left alone she will develop into a substantial clump.

Brilliant to include in a herbaceous border for the pop of deep colour amongst other shrubs and perennials 😍
