We love it when people leave a bit of length on sockets, switches and lights to work with but this is ridiculous.. its longer than the washing line in my garden 😂

We’re having to rewire the sockets throughout the downstairs in this rental property due to multiple faults and poor installation, just another day in the office!

2 weeks ago we posted a simple video of drilling a hole for a customer from outside in; this was so that the sky engineer could install the fibre in a way that was aesthetically pleasing for the customer.

We were told where they would like it drilling on the outside on the mortar line at the side of the render and also where they would like it popping out on the inside, they specifically requested outside in. We achieved exactly what they wanted with a slight drill angle upwards to help avoid water ingress. 🎯

But then out of the blue it hit over 3 million views and nearly 5000 likes so the keyboard warriors popped up on the scene.

The know it alls were saying how it should have been done and repeatedly commented the same questions despite it being in the caption/comments. The amount of Middle Ages blokes who it seemed to trigger is unbelievable, get a grip of yourself! 😂

But it couldn’t any simpler than this - the work was requested exactly how it was done, the customer was made up their walls weren’t blown to pieces inside or out, we paid for the good work. That is it!

Social media can be an amazing tool. It connects people, grows businesses, creates opportunities and allows us to share our lives with others around the world 🌍

However it can also be an incredibly cruel place.

Far too many people hide behind a screen and forget that there is a real human being on the other side of every profile, post and comment. Words typed in seconds can leave lasting damage that stays with someone for years!

Online bullying is a growing problem, more so among young people with how easy it is to gain access to social media nowadays. Recent UK figures show that around 1 in 5 children have experienced online bullying, and 1 in 6 adults. Research has also found that victims of cyberbullying are significantly more likely to suffer from depression, self-harm and suicidal thoughts.

Be kind. Support people. Lift others up instead of tearing them down. In this day and age with how tough times are for everybody I think it wouldn’t go amiss, you never know what battles people are facing ❤️

Added security to a new build property in horwich 🔐 📸

🔹2 x POC colorvu 3.0 cameras in white (personally we prefer the POE but our customer opted for the POC version instead)

🔹1 x Pyronix hardwired doorbell (the original standard new build door bell was removed and the new Pyronix one relocated to the other side of the door so that the post wouldn’t block the view of the drive)

One of our customers asked Sky to install fibre at the property and they had refused to drill a hole for the wiring, unless it was drilled inside out which would result in the exterior brickwork being blown to smithereens.. 💥

Luckily we are experts in drilling and sorted the hole out for them by drilling it on an angle from outside in to exactly where the customer wanted it 🎯

It’s okay sky we’ll do your job for you 🤷‍♂️

One simple rule with electrical installation - if you don’t know what you’re doing then don’t touch it! ❌

Here is a lovely example with a local conservatory company that have decided to wire their own spotlights in a newly done conservatory ceiling a few months ago. To the customer it appeared that it was all done correctly and they were happy with the finished product, but that’s because they didn’t know how it had been wired..

Long story short an intermittent fault had occurred on the conservatory lights and even before the investigation started the LAP screwfix special spotlights were a giveaway that it probably hadn’t been done properly 🤮

After speaking to the conservatory ‘expert’ he was adamant that the way he wired the spotlights was done right, cables wired in a way that screws wouldn’t hit them and the connections were done well enough to avoid any issues.

After taking the plastic down I found the old fan light cable in connector blocks tucked to the side, with the spotlight cables connected into it.. The neutral was connected into the switched live, the live was connected into the earth and to top it off he had screwed into the cable smack bang in the centre of it twice 😂

The cable was stripped back before the screw damage and connected into the spotlight wiring in wagos correctly, the wiring was tested again to ensure there were no faults and it was powered back up again.

Wrong and unsafe connections, screwed cables, new spotlights installed with no RCD protection at the time, no testing done after work complete = cowboy 🤠

Please do your due diligence with tradesmen as people like this can either cost you a fortune to rectify their shoddy work or can cause house fires!

A new customer had contacted us to unbind the previous home owners account to the Hikvision CCTV system (one that we actually installed a few years ago for a good customer of ours) and pair it up for them.

They now have new passwords for the CCTV and all set up with footage viewable on both mobile phones ✅

If you require any CCTV to protect your property feel free to give us a shout for a free quote 🤷‍♂️
