It’s been almost four years since Brambridge House came on the market, and we made the decision to move back from Spain weeks after moving there to to renovate our dream home - an apartment in a grade II* listed Georgian country house which I had told Darren years before I wanted to live at.

It’s taken over three years, but this morning I got out of bed, stood on clean carpet, was able to put lights on had a hot shower, didn’t trip over a screw driver, or stand on a nail. There were no jobs to do except make a coffee.

We still have a few odd bits to tidy up, and need some furniture, but the stress of renovating is gone.

We have a beautiful, comfortable home in the most stunning of location.

I watched back the first video your I made when we picked up the keys back in 2018. I realised I never shared it, so to my friends who have told me they are waiting on a new blog post - tonight is your lucky day. I’ve uploaded it to the blog www.metcalfemakoevers.com - plus it’s linked in the bio.

Brambridge House - what an absolute beast of a project!

We’re taking at least a month off until the next project starts. Although I’m not sure we wont get bored before that 😂

We are a strip of wallpaper and a length of pelmet short, and the shutters need another coat on the inside, but otherwise the kitchen in No5 is pretty much done. We’re celebrating this, and the fact my GHD straighteners survived a couple of hours in the washing machine with an M&S dine in meal deal whilst we work our way through the colour options of our fancy new mood lighting

We’ve annoyingly run out of paint for the hallway so the kitchen tiling has been started today instead. More annoyingly, have a sale on for wallpaper, but it doesnt include the print which we’ve chosen for the hall and kitchen. It’s an early night tonight thought, I’m back to work for the first time since Christmas Eve. Hopefully my coffee hasn’t gone out of date....

My mum has recently started painting, and sent me this cracker this evening. Apparently she needs more practice but I beg to differ! What do you guys think of work?!

I think today’s achievement calls for a second photo upload in one day! Our neighbours kindly helped with pulling down the partition wall and even got rid of the evidence. They also pulled down the suspended ceiling uncovering the original which is sadly damaged as we suspected, but probably easier to sort out than the other side of the room which has been damaged from 20 years of the windows being left open. We’ll just add it to the list of ‘jobs’ 😂😂

These acro-props are currently keeping our bed out of the basement! The beams are in a pretty poor state, so the entire floor of our bedroom, 2 spare rooms and hallway need tearing up and replacing after a partition wall between the two front bedrooms comes down. Apparently this is imminent. Day after tomorrow type imminent. God help the dust

We’re currently working on installing a bathroom in No5 and are arguing over the colour scheme and tiling areas. Some sort of light green, black and white pallet is in poll position, and green crackle tiles from are a definate favourite, but they a little over our budget. The ‘discussions’ continue....
