We are thrilled to share that the campus has been announced as winner of the prestigious .media Project Awards 2024 National Education Project of the Year (KSA)! 🏆

This recognition celebrates the hard work behind the project, which was designed to inspire the next generation through cutting-edge architecture, sustainability, and a learner-centred approach.

Richard Jobson and Rod Graham, along with representatives from , are in Dubai to attend the awards evening and also the MENA Construction Summit - they look forward to meeting up with old friends and making new connections.

We are excited to find out which projects will win the overall MENA award for each category which will be awarded this evening.. and clearly the Educational Award will have our full attention!!

To finish my takeover, I would like to show some more interior shots of the West Downs Campus. I have loved observing how the sun shines through the brise soleil, dancing over the interior surfaces including the knapped flint that weaves throughout the space.

Again, the light here and attention to the small details is so valuable in creating enjoyable spaces for students; something this build takes pride in, being designed to the WELL Building Standard.

Now it’s time to enjoy some special, interior moments.

Starting with the John Henry Brookes building.

I really enjoy how light can flow so well around this space that has so much capacity, creating a bright and encouraging environment to learn in, that I have had the pleasure of experiencing myself, and also fulfilling the University’s ‘Space to Think’ initiative.

Hi, It’s Nelly again 👋

For day two of my Design Engine takeover, I’m showing some of my exterior shots of the John Henry Brookes building at , a build that I have been able to enjoy personally throughout my time at university.

I like how the Corten steel ‘ribbon’ ties the different areas of the campus together while providing a grand sculptural feature.

There will be another post from me tomorrow and in the meantime, please don’t forget to keep an eye on Design Engine’s stories where I will share more snippets of my degree show prep.

Hello, I’m Nelly ( )

The team have kindly let me take over their feed this week, to showcase some of my photography work and share a bit of behind the scenes prep for my Degree Show.

Last week I officially finished my degree in photography at , where I completed my Final Major Project centred around photographing Design Engine’s buildings - John Henry Brookes, West Downs Campus and Arts University Bournemouth.

I made two concertina photo books (on JHB and West Downs) and a concertina pamphlet (on AUB) which I really enjoyed designing and constructing.

In my photos I try to shed light on fine architectural details and the interplay between light and shadow, emphasising the geometric and sculptural qualities of spaces.

In today’s post I’m showing some exterior photos of the West Downs Campus at . I love how the architects at Design Engine have echoed Wi******er’s vernacular with the use of knapped flint throughout this build.
