Sawmilling is charged at the day rate of £350/day for one operator, £500/day for 2 operators. However, where customers logs have non-wood foreign bodies hidden within them that cause permanent damage to a blade, this will incur an additional charge of £35/blade.

There's an old saying that wood warms you 3 times: when you cut it, when you split it and when you burn it. Of course, that's a massive understatement as it's really about 10 times after you've moved it about from place to place, moved and disposed of the brash (small branches/twigs and green stuff) and then finally got it back to your place to split, stack and then burn it! But, love doing it😆😏. These pictures are of trees with later stage ash die-back. So when they are felled, they hit the ground and smash like glass. Makes clearing up a bit tedious...

New Rock machinery logsplitter from ABA Ground Care in Tiverton, working great. Along with mobile sawmilling, another service I offer - general logging up, splitting and stacking. The picture shows a few hours work with this excellent bit of kit.

Nice job south of Crediton - undercover on concrete is always a treat over mud and rain. Some lovely boards coming from 8 stems of Ash and Oak. Never cease to get a kick out of opening these up to see the outside rot become lovely solid wood grain.

When the rain is hammering down, it time for some chainsaw maintenance. This old Stihl 018 is probably 20+years old, goes fine and needs just basic servicing, however, using vegetable oil as bar lubricant has it's drawbacks. When mixed with sawdust and heat it sets like window sealant and is a right pain to clean off. While it's all apart, replace oil pump.

Experimenting with a lump of oak that would normally go for fire wood, and find some lovely grain patterns. A few slabs of 55mm and the bottom slab (2'x3' approx) someone suggested could be a garden table/seat...if you had the inkling. £20 a slab. If interested just message me to have a look.

Also a couple of trial lintels to see if some less than Stella looking logs would mill up well, they did.
£20 the small slab (36"x15"), £40 large (86"x16"). This is green oak , moisture content around 50% still. Contact me for more info and viewing.
