May is nearly here...
Start to water plants more regularly.
Lightly trim box or other formal bedding.
Think about feeding and weeding lawns to encourage good growth and cut grass more regularly.
Now is the time to take cuttings from herbaceous perennials.
Protect plants from slugs and take early action against other pests... nip them in the bud!
Dust off the barbecue. Warmer evenings are coming.

April in the garden.
Now is the time to be creating hanging baskets for summer colour.
Watch for your primroses to finish flowering, as soon as the flowers are over lift the plants and split them. This will give your garden a bigger display of colour next spring.
Check your summer flowering seeds and plant them before it's too late.
Deadhead any daffodils and tulips as soon as they finish flowering but leave the growth to die back naturally for healthy bulbs next year.

February... It's cold..
Protect container plants from hard frosts and ensure outdoor taps are disconnected or insulated.
Keep feeding the birds and don't forget to give them water too.
Prune wisteria and other vigorous climbing plants before the birds start nesting.
Aerate lawns to improve drainage.
Now is the time to take hardwood cuttings off trees and shrubs or root cuttings off perennials.
Still need to keep on top of winter germinating weeds.

It's January!
The weather is cold!
The days are short!
The garden doesn't stop....

This time of year is the perfect time to be keeping on top of all those winter germinating weeds, planting deciduous hedging, pruning trees and shrubs to shape, aerating lawns.
