Viburnum x bodnantense Dawn is one of favourite early bloomers. The scent is delicious and easily blooms from mid Winter (if just coming to the end now) πŸ‘ƒ

Daphne odora, another gorgeous scent and just starting to bloom. Bonus is it's evergreen foliage 🌱

Camellia! I love them for their evergreen nature & their bold flower display in late Winter. Many varieties to choose from. Single and double blooms.

Hellebore; the winter rose 🌹 if you can plant alongside the christmas rose variety, you can such a long season of interest. The detail in the flower is mesmerising and a huge hit with the bees 🐝

Goodbye 2024
The year hasn't been without its trials and tribulations; losing 3 customers to illness & too many friends. My health has been a rollercoaster on repeat, and I don't feel at my best as the year closes out but I'm nothing if not positive!! and I love a New Year. New promises, new beginnings, fresh enthusiasm and passion, new adventures, new opportunities, Spring & Summer ahead of us.

So in usual fashion I've taken a moment to reflect back on my horticultural journey in 2024. A year that saw me travel to new countries, conquer public speaking, tick adventures off my bucket list, visit new places, continue my horticultural judging, volunteer once more at both Chelsea and Hampton Court flower shows, participate in various EDI horty projects, involve young people in gardening & meet some horticultural heroes. The list is quite endless & I can honestly say it's been fabulous.

In a year where I decided to say YES, I found myself doing lots of things that scared me, challenged me and really genuinely helped me grow as a person, both horticulturally and personally

What next year holds is yet to be discovered but I'm excited none the less. Cheers to the end of a fabulous if turbulent year!!

Another windy wet day but a slight improvement on the previous

The flower parade through Holland. 77 years, 26 miles. 13 hours. From Noordwijk at 9am this morning, through many villages and towns. We saw it at Hillegom at 5-6pm and it finished at almost 10pm in Haarlem.

Aside from the floats being the most incredible things I've ever seen created from flowers, the stamina of the bands, the dancers, all the security, first aiders and drivers is astonishing.

I can't thank Jana enough for standing in the wind, rain and cold waiting for the floats to arrive. Rushing back with thousands of people to catch only one of a couple of trains, being pushed within an inch of our lives and rammed on a train.
