My strategy when it comes to dot and dabbing window walls.
Using a square, I measure from the edge of the wall, across to the window margin, allowing 20mm for the reveals to go in afterwards.
Using this trick for all reveals (top, bottom and sides) ensures the window margins remain even all the way around.
Not only this, but this also avoids having to put a joint on the window corners, which can be prone to cracking.
Using this method of dot and dabbing plasterboard also makes it very easy when you come to dabbing your reveals on as you have a plumb and level edge to work to.
