The Summer has finally arrived ☀️

After a very hectic few weeks tying up all of our garden projects, I can finally embrace the Summer holidays 🙌

Evening jaunts with my little one and our new addition Kramer 🐶

Work never stops when you work for yourself but I’m trying desperately to carve out some quality family time! It’s never easy and just as the dust begins to settle on a very traumatic 2023/2024, we decided to make a big change in our lives….buying a new house!

I almost think we’re a glutton for punishment as selling and buying can often be very stressful! The upside is that as a family we can move on from heartbreak, grief and loss!

I have some exciting new projects in the pipeline along with completed projects that I need to show you all! I’m super proud of what we have achieved over the last few months and I can’t wait to show you 🤩

Isn’t this the prettiest bowl of beans 🤩

I grow broad beans every year. The varieties I like are ‘Karmazyn’, which are a beautiful pink colour, and ‘Masterpiece Green Longpod’.

Some for eating, some for storage and still more to come!

Garlic Scape anyone?? 😋

It’s that time of year again when your garlic will throw up its flower spike or ‘scapes’!

Traditional garlic scapes curl around like a pigs tail. Elephant garlic tends to grow straight 🧄

It’s a good idea to harvest these so that the plants concentrate on making a nice big bulb underground. This prevents them expending energy in flowering and producing seeds 🙌

There are tons of good recipes for these lovely greens but I like to do the following to keep it simple ⬇️

• chop into 1” pieces and freeze to use as needed.
• mince scapes with lemon balm for a twist on pesto
• grilled or roasted with salt and pepper

Meet Kramer, a 12 week old Cocker Spaniel 🖤🖤🖤

We’ve got a long way to go but training is under way and as soon as he’s completed his health and safety training, he’ll be ready for site visits. 🤣🤣
