The build is progressing with both houses up and the first roof insulated and tiles going on.

Progress being made on our Henley project. Two 5-bedroom, 5-bathroom houses with insulated structural rafts and timber frames.

These will have a well insulated, air tight envelope, solar PV, MVHR, ASHP's and under floor heating throughout. Although not passivhaus, we expect a high B rated EPC.

A recently competed renovation just outside Pangbourne, from feasibility to handover.

Works included a full ground floor reorganisation, side extension plus eco upgrades. The thermal envelope improvements included new cavity wall and loft insulation plus super efficient triple glazed doors and windows. Internally heated via underfloor heating throughout, fed by an air source heat pump. Further enhancements included mechanical ventilation with heat recovery, solar PV panels and a bank of batteries.

My clients purchased a cold drafty house with a leaky roof and a mix of single and double glazing. These improvements not only improved the aesthetics, they increased the energy performance from a very poor G, to a B rating.

This house will provide years of efficient and comfortable living, which I hope my clients enjoy for years to come.

Its been a while since I’ve posted anything, but this is a biggie!

We have just sold this 5 bedroom new build house complete with annexe and double garage which achieved an EPC “A” rating! Built to PassivHaus standards, this timber frame house boasts high levels of insulation, air tight construction with an Air Source Heat Pump, Solar PV and two MVHR units.

Windows again were high quality Internorm timber and aluminium units providing high levels of insulation as well as maintenance free external surfaces.

The large areas of south facing glazing is protected from overheating with shading by Brise Soleil, all powder coated to match the external materials.

Internally we included a fully insulated larder, vented separately to the main house plus waste water heat recovery to all 6 bathrooms.

Thanks go to Built Environment for the MVHR design and commissioning, Chiltern Solar for the PV installation and Alto Energy for the ASHP design and commissioning.

We hope the new owners enjoy this house as well as the low running costs, which are rare for a house of this size.
