Today was another scorcher, in fact too hot to do much work. Think I’ll start going mid morning when I’ve no appointments, be easier to get s**t done when it’s a little cooler. Never known Cumberland be so hot!

Photo dump of Karl s hard work, fencing and mesh up for the peas to climb on. The ones I direct planted hardly grew, whereas the ones I put in trays in the polytunnel have bounced.

Strawberries coming along great, hens laying, and a mean ass cockerel keeping guard on his girls. Last two times I’ve been in he’s attacked me the little s**t 😂…

Romanesque and broccoli now in the ground, still have more cabbages and other bits in the tunnel to plant.

Shangri La be doing grand. New bird feeders up and we were laughing at a jackdaw trying to swing on a little feeder meant for the finches 😂☠️

Projects ongoing. The place evolves every day 🖤

I couldn’t make it to Shangri La today, but my buddy Karl has had a grand day! He’s painted loads, tidied all the spare wood, painted our new table, and lots more. He was also blessed with two eggs from our chickens.

Best part is, Lisa who owned the chickens said they hadn’t laid in 6 weeks, so they must be happy where they are now hey! Daily human contact means a lot to these little guys. Plenty food, cleaner water, and shade!

Karl made the chickens a swing which I will show another day, but here’s some progress shots 🖤🤘🏻

Didn’t get a lot of pics today, it was hot as f**k! We were donated a huge gorgeous lupin, I’ve scraped paths to rid weeds, and all plants got watered… added a couple of pots near my little bench, seeded one which will grow pink n yellow flowers, and one a pale flower and orange… can’t wait.

Good afternoon from a sunny Shangri La. I was working alone today but the neighbour who gave Karl the parasol came to befriend me. She will come for a cuppa and a chicken cuddle lol…

Onions weeded, didn’t water everything today because there was a van in my way for an hour. But, plants ok, chickens ok, and dry weather for the foreseeable.

I’m gonna kick arse 🖤🤘🏻

Today was a very warm and sunny day in Shangri La. Also very busy. Saving the chickens meant flagstones, bricks, a pen and a coop. Took 4 of us to carry the coop, not only did we have to lift it head height to get over the fence, we had to manhandle it the length of the garden.

All chickens including Penny the rooster ate out of my hand. We all caught a chicken and off we went lol. They seem happy. More pics later of me in the pen, but these were sparse because I was ultra focused on jobs.

Karl got sunburned, and I, well, I’m a little pink 😊

Karl and fam enjoyed the dusk at Shangri La last night, got some awesome photos. Meanwhile I was stuffing my face and promptly fell asleep by 9:30pm 😂

Another cracking day in Shangri La…. Very close to being able to get the chickens, we got stung to death by nettles!
Karl’s sign up, mine stuck together so I can do my thang…. We did good!
