Busy day today. Two large hedge cuts for two neighbours. Both customers happy with Mark & Arthur’s work. Whilst carrying out the work we were approached by three separate people about other hedge cuts, including another gardener who doesn’t do hedges and wanted our number to pass onto some of his own customers!

Here’s a roof clean we carried out for one of our regular customers. Sadly they are moving home. But as part of the sale the new buyers stipulated that the roof be cleaned before they would commit to the sale as it had been flagged up as a potential issue on the survey. At short notice we were happy to help. Customers were really pleased with the results and they now move at the end of the week. We wish them well in their new home.

Busy week! Big job on this week! One of our regular garden customers asked us to clean and tidy up all their property.

We cleaned the roof by scraping the moss off and then applied a biocide to kill off any small remaining bits & prevent re-growth. We cleaned the rendered walls of the property using soft washing method. We also cleaned all the driveway & patio areas, painted a section of wall underneath the balcony.

We then cleared ivy from the fence and cleaned the green algae off the fence. We tidied up all the hedges and shrubs, w**ded and mowed the lawns!

Pretty much the only service of ours they didn’t have was bin cleaning!

Saturday we got an emergency call from the owner of Circle Recycling in Kearsley. We often carry out maintenance on the site, cutting hedges and keeping grass areas tidy.

They had a very bad leak in the roof that had caused a lot of damage to the offices. We attended the site late Saturday afternoon to assess the problem. The drainage gully on the roof had become full with soil/sludge & a mixture of waste materials that must have found their way onto the roof during strong winds. Over 20 years of dirt build up meant that the top of the downspouts had become blocked with nowhere for the water to go causing it to overflow into the building interior.

It was agreed we would attend the site on Sunday to clear the downspouts. The issue we had was that you couldn’t see where the downspouts were located as they are located inside the wall of the building. After 3 hours of searching we managed to locate and clear the top of the downspouts so that if it rained again water would have somewhere to go. It rained heavily Sunday night and thanks to us there was no further flooding.

We were asked to attend the site again today and help assist with the clearing of the gully. The owner already had a mains water drainage company attending the site today to clean the drains. The plan was to try and use their wagon to clear the gully on the roof. But we weren’t sure if it was going to be possible getting the large suction hose and water jets onto the roof. If that wasn’t possible we were the back up plan, clearing the gully manually.

Thankfully with a bit of effort we were able to get the hose and water jet up onto the roof and secured to the scaffolding. With our assistance and a bit of teamwork we were able to get the gully completely clear. We also carried out an overall assessment of the roof and found holes and damage to the roof that the owners were not aware of.

Whilst the gully cleaning was happening, our new trainee Luke was busy strimming the grass verges and cutting back some of the hedges.

Overall a productive few days.
