💧 The sun's out, but your bills don't have to go up. A few things worth checking around the house right now…

1️⃣ Turn your boiler flow temperature down for summer.
Your boiler doesn't need to work as hard when it's warm outside. Dropping the flow temperature slightly during the warmer months means you're not paying to generate heat you don't need, especially if you're only using it for hot water.

2️⃣ Your hot water cylinder thermostat should be set to 60°C, not higher.
A lot of households have theirs cranked up unnecessarily. 60°C is the sweet spot, hot enough to be safe, but not so high you're burning through gas just to store water you'll then have to mix with cold anyway.

3️⃣ Check outdoor taps and garden hoses for slow leaks.
These get used more in summer and small drips go unnoticed, especially overnight. A constantly running outdoor tap can waste thousands of litres and quietly add to your water bill.

4️⃣ Lag any exposed pipes in loft spaces before autumn.
Summer is the perfect time to do it, it's dry, easy to access, and pipe lagging costs just a few pounds from any hardware shop. It'll save you money on heat loss and protect against the cold when it returns.

None of these cost a penny to check, and together they can make a real dent in your bills.
