Been quiet on here - the granary project still keeping us busy! Really pleased recently with how these niches worked out in the conversion for the kitchen, they look great with these vessels lined up in them. We fitted the kitchen too before Christmas, looking spot on, even with the temporary upstands whilst the client waits for more marble to come into stock! More photos to come

Back at a gorgeous Victorian semi today to finish off some details after a full floor replacement earlier in the year. These art nouveau tiles make a fantastic feature and are finished off here with a chamfered trim to match the reclaimed redwood flooring.

Arch former construction for the guys at Heritage Lime We are a big fan of their products and have been using their lime mortar and render extensively during our current Granary restoration. These formers will support a beautiful arched Cotswold stone wine cellar. They have been made in modules to allow the masons to continue their work between course setting time.

Started some work on a Wotton under Edge institution today, Feast aka the old Clarence’s shop. The original window joinery is beautifully made but the sills have sadly seen better days thanks to condensation and two part filler! Survey completed today, better sharpen the chisels for some serious splicing. Check out the two day dot sale this Friday/ Saturday for some bargains.

Take a look at this camber! The old granary floor is made up of some gorgeous wide/thick Elm boards but the joists below have seen some serious hardship. Four have completely snapped at the wall plate and those exposed to the elements at the barn doors have completely rotten at the end grain. Here we have jacked up the original joists, removed the rot, replaced/repaired the wall plate and repaired the joists. The four that had sheered have been glued, scarfed, through bolted and pocketed into their original positions. The five that sit in front of the Barn doors have been strengthened with sister beams and the rot that has set in on the end grain fully removed. Watch this space for more images of the full floor restoration and plenty of grain photos (no pun intended!)
